When I think about ‘open borders’ perspective on immigration, I see a major strategic error. (Setting aside being just part of a greater effort to form a global government; the nationless world.)
Events 1200 years ago makes a good analogy to illustrate what I reference.
Around 842 the Eastern Roman Empire had treachery afoot! The Empress Theodora was exiled to a nunnery and her lover Theoctistus was murdered, a plot orchestrated by Bardas rising his young nephew to the throne, Michael III.
The young new ruler, perfectly aware of his precarious position, desired council he could trust. Against the advice of many, Michael choose an inexperienced individual in his friend Basilius. The young Byzantine Emperor trusted this man above all else.
Few years prior, Michael was visiting the royal staples as a wild mere got loose. It was a peasant Macedonian that saved his life. By show of gratitude Basilius was immediately plucked from obscurity and made the head of the stables. The two became very close.
Now as the Emperor in need of trustworthy head councilor what better choice then the man who owed everything to him? The choice seemed obvious, ignorance can be cured after all.
Passing over the much more qualified Bardas, his uncle that was responsible for installing him on the throne in the first place; Basilius learns quickly and is soon advising Michael on all matters of the empire.
The only issue is Basilius has an appetite for money. He needed more and more as he settles into extravagant habits. His salary is doubled then tripled. Michael gave Basilius his favorite mistresses hand in marriage. No price too high. No request unmet.
With having Michael’s ear, Basilius convinced the Emperor his Uncle Bardas, the head of the army, was a threat to his him and needed to be taken out. Relenting, Michael orders the assassination of his uncle.
Naturally, Basilius suggests himself as the replacement at the head of the army and is granted his request, per usual.
Time passes and Michael finds himself in financial hardship due to his own lavish indulgences. The Emperor asks Basilius to repay some of the money from over the years…
To Michael’s dismay Basilius refused; given only an impudent smile, Michael realizes his position. Basilius had amassed a fortune and has more influence in the army and the senate than the Emperor did.
A week or two later, after a night of drinking, Michael III awoke to guards surrounding his bed.
Basilius then watch the execution of his old friend. The very man that raised him to his current position. That meant nothing.
Basil the Macedonian, newly proclaimed Emperor, rode the streets of Constantinople (Byzantium) with his predecessors head affixed to a pike. How’s that for a thank you? Gratitude that could be done without most agree.
"Nothing says obay me like a head on a stick" 😒
The concept of importing voters and assuming they will vote for you and not install themselves is a tad naive. Perhaps this better explains the primary victory of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez? The demographic shifted heavy Latino in that district. #FactsMatter

As most of us expected, Brett Cavanaugh was confirmed as the 114th Supreme Court Justice.
After a particularly contentious confirmation process rife with rumor, innuendo and salacious accusations: largely described “palace intrigue” in the mass market media.
The notable decline in decorum with regard to judicial nominees within the united states senate has not gone unnoticed.
The correspondents were discussing whether there was a need to fundamentally change the senate or the Judicial confirmation process at least.
Of course my reflex reaction is: NO! Often reflex reactions can be wrong.
With little doubt do we have the same idea.
The talking heads would probably want to further bastardize the senate in some shape or form.
🤣 That's hilarious. So this clown chimes in with this snarky comment. The irony is, it is she that is the partisan hack that doesn't know what she's talking about.
I noted Holder to be first cabinet official held in contempt of congress (fact BTW)
I promptly respond, using partisan sources, her partisan sources... @nytimes and @politico to show her her error. I love when cocky idiots step to me, it's great!
A concern my father expressed with the Michigan election... and he has a point.
Given it's not exclusive, however, this proposal will bring every beatnik leftist wanna be kid to the poles in droves...
I'm not knocking it... I probably support this and had a living off the care giver laws. I am watching the small guy getting run over and people that sold major wieght for years become "legitimized" taking over much of the industry here.
For example most grow stores, especially ME owned, have massive illegal grows behind them, same with dispensaries. I've watched one major player criminal after the next step into these roles because they have the cash.
@JohnJamesMI rocking ya out until election day. 👍🦅🗽🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
For God & County!
However, I don't really wear ball caps anymore (good for that pic) ... Mainly the #MAGA stays on my armoire. 🇺🇸 But is on hand for special events. Procured from the Washington MI rally.
My favorite 2 flags are featured in each pic too! 🇺🇸🦅
First is my Mount Vernon flag, named because it was first flown on the flag pole of Washington's estate. Forget the day, the certificate is particularly in frame. This flag has been bannered in my home office ever since.
I was watching a 1977 episode of 'Soap' last night, this program could not be produced today. Not because Billy Crystal's gay character was concidering a sex change, attempted suicide, then opted against the sex change... No, this scene cought my attention... 👇
