In the late 1800s, American Sociology split off of Moral Philosophy. It had a strong evangelical component
Philosophy and Progressivism in Wisconsin: John Bascom at the University, 1874-1887
[I seem to have stumbled upon the birth of American Progressivism]

The 1880s and 1890s are vitally important for understanding the Messianic Universities at the heart of SocJus.
They are difficult because they are at an intersection of atomized histories of Bellamy Socialism, First Wave Feminism, Theosophy, Evangelism and Left Eugenics.
Interestingly many of these first University Presidents who spread Evangelical Socialism came out of the crazy Great Awakening pressure cooker called the Burned Over District en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burned-ov…
This is the great man himself, John Bascom, father of the Wisconsin model of the University as missionary of Evangelical Statism

If you are feeling down about the American Educational system. Read this about the Swedish system quillette.com/2018/09/18/pos…
Progressive educational ideas are terrible for education. America has been saddled with them since John Dewey
"The abandonment of teacher-led instruction was strongly supported by the governing Social Democrats, who described the practice as “authoritarian to its core.” Instead, methods that would promote students’ independence and general critical thinking abilities were recommended."

I got back from Bangkok last friday in time to work my weekend classes.

I still haven't processed it
Saigon in 2018 is where Bangkok was in 2003, a victim of its own success, choking in traffic and pollution
Bangkok has turned into a Southern Europe-style, lush, green city

This seems to have been written just for me
"The intellectual class, with the pietist Protestant evangelists leading the charge, who were tasked with rationalizing, explaining, and selling this concatenation of mystic revelation with “scientific” theories that justified the new order."

It turns out that the Progressive wave of the 1890s was a repeat of the Civil War populist evangelism, except that overt Christian references were partly substituted with the new language of Sociology.
America underwent a number of Revival Waves:
1828- backwoods new york- great lakes (mormons, adventists)
1858- Urban North (co ed, reform college 'oberlin'' abolition)
1890s- upper midwest-chicago 'the new grad schools' dewey, james)
1914- progressivism
193- new deal
1964 civil rights went national
2010s- tea-party and occupywallstreet leading to ??

Each wave trades in a little bit of the Christian foundation for the language of Socialism.

Each of these waves either begins as a Women's movement or has a strong feminist element

I would love to see a good paper of Chinese HR styles, which are basically Hyper-Dilbertian
Take every bad thing you have heard about American Organizational Culture, turn them all up to eleven and you get Chinese Management, which can only be described as willfully Kafka-esque
Treating employees as rebellious slaves has some obvious advantages for a company's managers but I suspect that their culture of fear is a big drain on productivity

A Dutch perspective on the New Culture Wars.
#nederlands doorbraak.be/zwart-wit-link…
For CultuurMarxisme, 'diversity' is a sterile abstraction like 'the people' is for totalitarian regimes.

'Voor het cultuurmarxisme is ‘diversiteit’ een steriele abstractie, zoals ‘het volk’ dat is in totalitaire regimes. Maar de echte diversiteit is'
I think, perhaps the dutch public sphere is going to resist the new PC insanities sweeping out of America
