(2) “At the event, called 'Supporting Iranian Voices,' Mike Pompeo signaled a US commitment to support efforts to undermine Iran’s clerical regime.” @jrezaian signals his concern, the mullahs' fate, not mentioning how they’ve brought suffering to the people of Iran & the region.
(3) @jrezaian says he wanted to see “which Iranian voices would Pompeo be supporting?”
Yet nowhere in his piece does he mention how @SecPompeo specifically said to the Iranian people that the Trump administration hears you and stands with you.
(4) “… others openly boycotted the event. They wanted to be as far as possible from what they saw as the opening arguments in this administration’s case for regime change.”
Again, @jrezaian signals his concern: #IranRegimeChange.
(5) Interesting how @jrezaian fails to mention how Iranians are protesting the regime’s rule for 40 years.
Uprisings in 1999, 2009 & the Dec/Jan episode. #IranProtests are continuing to this day.
The regime shoots protests, jails & executes anyone seeking regime change.
(6) @jrezaian claims to be in touch with “Iranian voices” inside the country and abroad.
I’m certain that’s either a lie or represents a filtered few.
Iranians inside are protesting the regime’s rule & Jason has obviously chosen to remain blind to that reality.
(7) Abroad, the Iranian opposition just held a major convention in Paris, which Tehran’s operatives tried to bomb.
Sec. Pompeo has mentioned this many times, in his speech & tweets. @jrezaian doesn’t mention this, because he’s solely concerned about the ruling mullahs’ interests.
(8) By mentioning “stiff economic sanctions & the recently upheld travel bans,” again @jrezaian signals his concerns for the regime’s interests.
We saw Obama lift sanctions & #Iran use billions to wreak havoc across the region while over 50 million Iranians live in poverty.
(10) Stiff sanctions are depriving #Iran’s regime of money to feed its domestic crackdown machine & foreign belligerence across the region.
The travel ban is preventing the mullahs from sneaking their operatives/spies into the US.
And @jrezaian is only worried about these issues.
(15) Finishing his piece, @jrezaian again reveals his main concerns: “… the U.S. government’s unstated efforts to destabilize and remove the current regime…”
(16) While the Trump administration has never officially stated #IranRegimeChange as their policy, @jrezaian sees the future of the mullahs’ regime in danger and is begging for efforts to prevent this.
(17)
As always, I leave you to come to your own conclusion.
Here’s mine if you’re interested.
(18) @jrezaian is a complete #Iran regime apologist. He was a Tehran-based @WashingtonPost reporter.
No West-media “reporter” or “journalist” can operate freely in Iran without the regime’s approval.
They must adhere to a framework defined by the regime’s #IRGC & Intel Ministry.
(19) @jrezaian now hides behind the cover of being arrested by the regime & jailed in Tehran’s Evin Prison.
However, I believe his release being linked to #Obama’s highly flawed & disastrous #IranDeal (with pallets of cash flown to Tehran as ransom money) is very suspicious.
(20) I believe the #IRGC arrested @jrezaian, jailed him, released him after receiving billions from #Obama, having him return to the US as a “hero.
Now he has the cover of being jailed by #Iran’s regime and yet is concerned about the mullahs’ interests. #Hypocrite
(21)
Again, the conclusion is yours to make.
For me, #Iran apologists such as @jrezaian - being a periscope into the regime - becoming utterly concerned about the mullahs’ future is actually a good sign.
