"It doesn't represent me at all . . . I love my mom to death, but boy . . . I'm still trying to wrap my head around all this." pilotonline.com/news/nation-wo…
He was understandably "horrified" at first, and props to him for handling a fraught situation with good humor and aplomb.
You know how I know Dr. Ford is telling the truth when she says she knows with absolute certainty that Brett Kavanaugh tried to rape her? Because when you know your assailant, it's impossible to be mistaken, and it's impossible to forget.
I wrote this two years ago, 11 years after my rape, because a sexual assaulter had just gotten elected president. There's no poetic licence here. The details I recount here will be as vivid to me when I'm 90 as they are now and were then. medium.com/@cFidd/rape-cu…
If someone tried to tell me I was "mistaken" about who raped me, I'd probably laugh. Because it'd be the most absurd thing I'd have ever heard.
So I saw a lot of #takes about how this reads like something an abuser says after hurting you and I thought they might have been hyperbolic but nope. wsj.com/articles/i-am-…
I'm very lucky in that I've only been in one abusive relationship, and WOW does this piece remind me of his "apologies."
Screaming at me for hours? He's sorry he had to do that but I should have called him back sooner. wsj.com/articles/i-am-…
Literally ignore me at a party for hours then demand I leave with him the instant he was ready? I imagined that but even if he'd done it, well, I shouldn't have spent so long talking to that other guy. wsj.com/articles/i-am-…
Talk is cheap. Sen. Flake's call for an FBI investigation was literally meaningless.
McConnell won't delay. Trump won't call for an FBI investigation, no matter how cursory. And I have a hard time believing Flake will grow enough of a spine to vote no on Tuesday.
The thing I keep coming back to is that, for a white man so assured of his innocence and desperate to clear his name, Kavanaugh seems incongruously resistant to the witnesses, testimony, and investigation necessary to actually do so.
I can't stop thinking about this moment with @DickDurbin, when Kavanaugh refused to say under oath -- was desperate to AVOID saying, seemingly -- that he wanted the FBI to investigate the charges against him. splinternews.com/dick-durbin-fi…
Additionally, Kavanaugh's apparent ardent desire to prevent the other guy in the room -- Mark Judge -- from making statements under oath felt... extremely off, to say the least.
