You know how I know Dr. Ford is telling the truth when she says she knows with absolute certainty that Brett Kavanaugh tried to rape her? Because when you know your assailant, it's impossible to be mistaken, and it's impossible to forget. I wrote this two years ago, 11 years after my rape, because a sexual assaulter had just gotten elected president. There's no poetic licence here. So I saw a lot of #takes about how this reads like something an abuser says after hurting you and I thought they might have been hyperbolic but nope. wsj.com/articles/i-am-… I'm very lucky in that I've only been in one abusive relationship, and WOW does this piece remind me of his "apologies."

Talk is cheap. Sen. Flake's call for an FBI investigation was literally meaningless. McConnell won't delay. Trump won't call for an FBI investigation, no matter how cursory. And I have a hard time believing Flake will grow enough of a spine to vote no on Tuesday.

The thing I keep coming back to is that, for a white man so assured of his innocence and desperate to clear his name, Kavanaugh seems incongruously resistant to the witnesses, testimony, and investigation necessary to actually do so.
