A thread dedicated to dear friends @GhorAngirasa and @Gopanarya.

They churn out so much knowledge that even a Dummkopf like me picks up titbits.

But then, I have my advantages. I simply pack a bag and go... 😋
Some time ago, GA had posted an image of a लकुलीश vigraha from a rock cut temple near AritApaTTi, a village underneath the hills, some distance outside Madurai.

So I went. To see. To seek. To pray.
Following Google's instructions, I went past a spectacularly picturesque countryside and down the road for about 4.5 km only to reach this hillock with a small lake.

To the left of the lake was a tiny Hamlet and the kind people guided me to cross over to a surreal experience.

Today with my #WalkToTemple trip, I realise that I have completed a unique milestone.

In the list of top 10 tallest Gopurams in India (possibly the world), I've covered the 8 that are in Tamil Nadu.

Once I visit Hampi (10th) and Murudeshwar (2nd), I'd have covered all 10. 🙂
9. South Gopuram of Meenakshi Amman temple.
Height: 170 feet tall.
8. Ammani Amman Gopuram, Annamalaiyar temple, Tiruvannamalai.
Height: 171 feet tall.

Vadachennimalai Murugan temple. Subramanya appears in 3 forms - as a smiling child in the sanctum, as a grihasta with VaLLi & Deivanai and as an ascetic danDAyuthapANi. All three forms are swayambhu, as the legend goes.

Flyover visit! 😄
A couple of km away, Darth Vader looms.
Almost as if he's on his way to grab the rich fertile lands on the other side of the road.

Yesterday the #PondyLitFest closed with a wonderful recitation! Listen in.

It was for about 20 min, so this will be a thread.
