1/ In April we shared #150questions on #citizensrights & Settled Status for the 3.6m EU citizens in the UK with the Home Office. The immigration minister @carolinenokes promised to provide answers on all questions by the end of June. The deadline passed & we received ZERO answers
2/ The Home Office then promised to provide us with answers to all of our #150questions on #citizensrights & Settled Status by the end of July. You guessed it, we again received ZERO answers.
3/ Instead the Home Office published a Statement of Intent on #citizensrights & Settled Status for the 3.6m EU citizens in the UK. Instead of receiving the pronised answers to our #150questions we were forced to painfully fish answers out ourselves from that document.
4/ Even after painfully matching the Statement of Intent on #citizensrights & Settled Status for the 3.6m EU citizens and our notes from the Home Office user groups with our #150questions we only got 10 satisfactory answers, 40 questions were partly answered & ZERO on the rest.
5/ @carolinenokes you wonder why there is such low trust in the Home Office, you wonder why EU citizens in the UK still feel uncertain about their #citizensrights post Brexit. You not upholding your promises does not help.
6/ Meanwhile, with so many of the #150questions unanswered, the Home Office has been busy legislating for Settled Status - pushed out through secondary legislation, undebated, on July 20th - a few days before parliament going on holiday.
7/ at the same time Home Office announcing live testing of the Settled Status application process in Liverpool. We haven't seen the answers to our #150questions. Have you taken the issues raised by us into account when you made the go live decision @carolinenokes?
8/ @carolinenokes, while you are enjoying your summer holiday during 10 weeks of Parliament recess many of the 3.6m EU citizens in the UK are spending their summer continuing to worry about their #citizensrights. Have a glass of wine on that. /end

1/ On @IainDale at @LBC Iain Duncan Smith again called for benefits to be restricted or cut for future EU citizens arriving and working in the UK. Giving the impression that EU citizens in general are a drain on the system. Apart from the MAC report disproving this...
2/... Iain Duncan Smith's £4bn (sounds big) benefit claim needs to be seen in relation. His number is correct, here his sources from his own report
3/... but what he misses is putting this number in relation to the overall benefits spend of the UK which stands at £153bn excluding pensions for the year 2017

1/ on @BBCr4today Theresa May confirmed that Freedom of Movement will end on March 30th next year in case of a no deal Brexit. No transition, no implementation period. Plunging 3.6m EU citizens, despite continuing to live legally in the UK, directly into the #HostileEnvironment
3/ last week the Prime Minister promised to protect the #citizensrights of EU citizens no matter what Brexit outcome. Within the #HostileEnvironment this is becoming meaningless though.
4/ without a transition period for Freedom of Movement there will suddenly be 3.6m legal EU citizens - with their #citizensrights protected - unable prove to landlords, banks, the NHS and employers that they have the right to reside and work in the UK

1/ Let's see how many of the 3.6m EU citizens in the UK are going to get 'caught up in it [the #HostileEnvironment]' @10DowningStreet?
2/Private landlords already uncertain about extending rental agreements for EU citizens post March 2019 @@RLA_PEARL research shows

3/ Employers are already uncertain about hiring EU citizens - this will only worsen during the transition period when many EU citizens will not yet hold Settled Status. And it will be absolute chaos under no-deal Brexit

We need your support
September is almost over and our team has been extremely busy this month fighting for the #citizensrights of the 3.6m EU citizens in the UK.
But we do need your continued support to keep us going. You can help us here

September 1st marked #800DaysInLimbo for the 3.6m EU citizens in the UK & 1.2m @BritishInEurope.
And we started the month by writing a letter to @MichelBarnier & @DominicRaab - telling them that #EnoughIsEnough - asking them to finally commit to #citizensrights by ring fencing the already agreed rights no matter what Brexit outcome

@WalthamstowAcad care to comment please. This is unacceptable and all of the claims on here have been disproven by the recent MAC report. This is pure indoctrination of young minds with false stereotypes of immigration and specifically the Polish.
@stellacreasy
There are about 8k Polish citizens living in Waltham Forest Council. Many of their children will attend @WalthamstowAcad. Have you considered the impact of this poorly drafted error riddled homework on these children & how they might be perceived among their peers in the cohort?
If you'd rather teach your pupils the facts about immigration than further spreading false divisive stereotypes we'd recommend reading our summary of the MAC report on EU immigration
