So, back in the halcyon days of 2011, I had a partner, let's call them Mag. Mag and I were mid-coitus (listen I used halcyon now I'm using coitus just go with me, I paid for the 50 cent words and I'm gonna use them) and suddenly, without warning or negotiation, called me "Daddy"

I went from 60 to 0 in about 1 second. I had my clothes on before the sheets hit the floor. It's the only time outside of an assault that I've kicked someone out when we'd been hot and heavy only moments earlier.

When I first heard about dd/lg, it squicked me. Specifically the dd part. It was from a place of ignorance and personal baggage, but that's not an excuse.

Over time thanks to the wonderful writing of folks like @Girly_Juice, @BexTalksSex, and talking with @taylorjmace and @SugarCunt I came to a place of tolerance but still flinched at the word from time to time.

SFS18 -- that is, #SFS18 -- introduced a tongue-in-cheek-but-not-really "Daddy Harem" among the "baby bloggers" (and @BitchDaddyBeaux) and I was... Weirdly ok with it. I don't know what changed (other than my current pinned thread) but I just kinda shrugged and moved on.

Well, today I was decompressing and watching @CrashPadSeries (as one is wont to do) and settled on Episode 104 – Mendhi Henna & Kitty Stryker. Without giving too much away, Kitty was, well, a cat for much of the opening scene.

I don't know what about that, or her reactions, her small movements, made it click for me. In that moment, amid the sensory play, I realized the disconnect between the word and the act. That probably doesn't mean anything to you, so let me expand.

You see, I kept seeing "Daddy" as positional. It was personal for me, so it couldn't exist in another context. But in that scene, it went from having a semantic, inherent meaning to instead have a narrative role. I was able to draw the lines between Daddy, daddy, and "Daddy"

And so, as a result, I think I might be into that now?

So basically this, but a much longer timeline.

P.s. a Daddy Harem is still a barbecue. Or the hood of a car that's Not Working.
