Hello, everyone and welcome back to our weekly #GEMChats! This week, we'll discuss the results of the poll on whether #celebrities make successful #entrepreneurs!
So recently @KylieJenner sparked a heated debate on how celebrities are successful at entrepreneurship when she was announced to become the youngest self-made #billionaire ever.
Some feel strongly that she only dethroned #MarkZuckerberg from that position because she is part of the #Kardashian and her #entrepreneurial venture has multi-level of safety net and it allows her to #scaleup at an exponential rate.
However, @KylieJenner#KUWTK seems to be directly involved and #invested in her #business ventures. She personally promotes her products and while there are safety nets in place, it can be said that she has innate #entrepreneurship skills.
So let's look at more examples.
@jessicaalba co-founded The Honest Company, a USD$1-billion company which recently secured a USD$200 million investment.
Fortune: "Since Alba founded the eco-friendly Honest Co. in 2011 (sic), they expanded from selling natural baby products to home cleaning and beauty items".
#Male#celebrities like @RyanReynolds, George Clooney and @Drake have been known to venture into the #alcohol industry with Aviation Gin, Casamigos Tequila and Virginia Black Whiskey.
Some #superstars also display #Entrepreneurship talent from investing in #startups and #tech. @JaredLeto is one such celebrity who has been found making well-timed bids for companies like Uber, Snapchat, and Spotify.
So while we can say #celebrities may have their #Entrepreneurship journey easier than others, most show genuine interests and aptitude for #business. Some even take it up a notch by becoming #investors to other companies.
