At 27, I ensured I had all my professional qualifications. I was a chartered insurer and had an MBA. But, I've learnt in my career that there is no "best" time to start a business or career. Don't give in to fear or #socialmedia peer pressure! ~ Wole Oshin #CustodianMentors

I worked in an insurance company for free for a year, because there were no jobs. In that year, I worked like an entrepreneur and set up a new unit that subsists today. Based on that, my employment was backdated by a year and I received a promotion! ~ Wole Oshin #CustodianMentors

Surprises happen. For instance, a government policy can change your business plan. Strategise and forge ahead. Don't retreat. ~ Wole Oshin #CustodianMentors

What gives me sleepless nights? Ensuring @CustodianPLC's culture remains true to its roots. It's not enough for a business to have a big name. What does the internal culture look like? ~ Wole Oshin #CustodianMentors

Pay attention to the nitty-gritty; the details. Little things matter in a business. If you're so focused on your vision and lose sight of the small things; those items may come back to bite you. ~ Wole Oshin #CustodianMentors

Businesses transition. What you're doing now may be completely different from what you do in future. Sieze opportunities. When you notice demand in an area, explore it. ~ Wole Oshin #CustodianMentors

Don't be afraid of reinventing yourself. Sometimes opportunities lie in a completely different area from what you're doing now. Be prepared to shift gears. ~ Wole Oshin #CustodianMentors

At the age of 10, I made a promise to my parents to take responsibility for my chores at home. It was good training. I would be punished if I didn't keep my word. @obyezeks #CustodianMentors

There must be consequences for bad behaviour. A society that rewards bad behaviour and punishes good is a distorted society. @obyezeks #CustodianMentors

At a very young age, my dad exposed me to reading serious business and political journals. I started reading @TheEconomist at a young age. @obyezeks #CustodianMentors

All my life experiences made me responsible. It also made me open to contrary viewpoints. In a debate, values are sacrosanct but positions are flexible. @obyezeks #CustodianMentors

We must encourage outspokenness in families. If people are not encouraged to debate at home, you can't expect them to speak up on matters of accountability and governance. @obyezeks #CustodianMentors

This generation is the most socially networked. Use your power well. @obyezeks #CustodianMentors

My focus on public procurement was premised on the knowledge that in developed countries, leaders don't focus on transactional issues like procurement. They focus on governance. @obyezeks #CustodianMentors

I don't do jobs. I do "assignments". Find your assignment in life. Find your purpose. @obyezeks #CustodianMentors
