LIFE HAPPENS | “Sho, do you cook?”, my date asked. I replied jauntily, “I used to but not anymore. I now have access to a chef and can afford to order what I like eating.” #Thread#Life#Relationships
My date followed up by asking, “If your boyfriend asked you to cook for him, would you?” I grinned, as I realised my date was sadly playing from a script. I replied, “I don’t have a guy I like who’s asking me to cook, so I can’t say.”

#HEALING, #MEDICINE & OTHER MATTERS: One thing I struggle with and continue to talk to God about, is the ratio of people he heals versus those healed by medicine or those who eventually die.
Let's discount specific waves of the Spirit, for a moment - the ministries of Kathryn Kuhlman and other documented faith healers. Instead, let's do a simple headcount of those who get miraculously healed in an average church.

"God, I want my future back." Those were the words I whispered to God two weeks ago, while I was going through the greatest health scare of my life. #Thread#Health#Life
In the midst of the tests and various medical consultations, it occurred to me that my life had stopped. My symptoms limited my movements and where I could go. So, I couldn't plan and I couldn't project forward.

Yesterday, I thought about how difficult it is for many of us to concatenate being Christian with enjoying life. #Thread#Christianity#Christian
Somehow we imagine one cannot be Christian and sexual, Christian and metrosexual, Christian and gourmand. When we are forced to make a choice, we either choose active Christian and boring or passive Christian and epicurean.
BUSINESS LESSONS FROM SCRABBLE | I won a game of #Scrabble over the weekend. I was down by 30 points, but played the word, logjam, on triple word and double letter spots to earn 50 points. #Business#Entrepreneurship
Another day, I was leading in a game of Ludo and had 2 seeds left. My boss was lagging behind, but then he won by pecking my 2 seeds before I could get home. Isn't that like life? Those ahead of you don't always win and vice versa.

I JUST WANT TO FEEL SOMETHING | I recently started drinking again after a long time of not drinking. #Thread#Nigeria#Unhappiness
Yesterday, as I considered my glass of single malt whiskey, I remembered a friend who wrote about sleeping with random women. After I read his article, I asked why he did it, since he didn't seem like the "promiscuous" type. He said he just wanted to feel something.

YOU WILL HAVE MORE THAN ONE IDEA | I spoke to a young man recently about a business deal. He was more concerned about the money he would make than the opportunities he would gain. #Thread#Ideas#Entrepreneurship#Career
Sometimes when I talk to entrepreneurs, they seem obsessed with people stealing their ideas. They assume they will have only one good idea in life. They think a single deal will be their only source of prosperity.

COMMUNITY CHURCH | When @Chude began advocating for safe spaces for those dealing with depression, I could relate. I was reminded of neighbourhood community centres in the US. #Church#Thread
In some US cities where kids are at risk of suicide or gang initiation, the community leaders realised something. Many children do not turn to gangs or suicide because of adversity.

A few days ago, I tweeted about the dearth of values and excellence in #Nigeria. That rarity of standards is why I am excited about @CustodianPLC's #CustodianMentors Conference.
If there's someone you should meet at #CustodianMentors Conference, it is @obyezeks. Forget the Twitter noise. Let me share my personal experience.

You can be minding your business and evil will try to find you. It's like evil hates those who resist it, so it seeks to drag them down to its level.
Those that are quick to believe negative stories can't imagine that others are not like them. They have no frame of reference for the transparent world others live in, so the others must be like them.
I met Mr. @LekeAlder a very long time ago, but a conversation we had in my 3rd year of University landed me a job before I graduated. #CustodianMentors

#Competence is the capacity to consistently deliver, without being micro-managed. Sometimes, it is assumed competence is about skills or attitude alone. No, it's also about ideology and drive. #Thread#Skills#HR#Management
The ideology behind competence is multifaceted. There's fairness - the belief that one ought to do what one has been contracted to do. There's righteousness - wanting to do the right thing. There's integrity and reliability - keeping your word and keeping to time.

Let me teach you something about building a reputation in the #socialmedia age.
Make sure enough people know you in real life. People who can testify about what you stand for and who can attest to your true character and values.

SOME RECENT THOUGHTS ON THE CHURCH | I'm beginning to understand that almost every #socialmedia post (complaint) that begins with "The #Church", actually means, "The Pastor". Part of the problem is the "inversion" of the Christian model.
Instead of physical churches being training grounds that equip saints for the work of the ministry in the world; they've become central expensive bureaucracies where Christians bring their gifts to church. Then, the churches centrally dispense on their behalf, through Pastors.

THE OLD MAN'S TALE: I met the old man at a presentation. I was a brand consultant on a large corporate project. The client insisted I sit on a panel to select marketing agencies. The gentleman; old enough to be my father, represented an agency in #Nigeria. #HR#Entrepreneurship
As he stepped in for the presentation, I saw the expression of the young 20-something year olds on the client's side. They were bright eyed top shots from Ivy League Universities. They were recruited to revitalise the DNA of the decades old institution.

I became financially liquid late in life. By then, I had become so accustomed to living modestly. I had become too "old" to be popping bottles up in da club. I was so used to using one bag that I didn't see the need in buying two.
Charity means a lot to me. It's important. And it's not because I'm a bleeding heart. I think it's a combination of my home training, work training and faith.

The first trip abroad that I paid for, was to #Malaysia and #Singapore. I've never understood the average Nigerian's obsession with "Jand" and "Yankee". So, as soon as I could afford to travel abroad, I chose somewhere exotic. #Travel#TravelBae
When I was growing up, I had a strong image of who I wanted to be in life. I wanted to be exposed and have distinct encounters. I wanted to explore unusual things and meet unusual people. #TravelBae

I just realised why the best business incubators/business hubs succeed. They not only help entrepreneurs to finetune their products and get funding. They also help those entrepreneurs create their first market/demand for their products. #Entrepreneurship#Nigeria
I remember what @MrSleevesUp said about @VeniaBizHub - how a few of the tenants got their first big break there by becoming service providers to other tenants. #Entrepreneurship#Nigeria
