in the same way that any political prisoner anywhere in the world, held arbitrarily and in contempt of two U.N. rulings, would indicate to me that such a person threatens the interests of the powerful and therefore deserves my support and friendship. 2/9
I stand with @JulianAssange in his fearless and principled commitment to disclose primary source material as an antidote to institutional injustice. 3/9
As I watch the most vituperant of his slanderers go to work trying to tarnish his character, wittingly or not, at the service of the powerful destructive forces that are focused on destroying @JulianAssange, 4/9
two thoughts dominate from reading these most critical accounts: 1/ How vicious and emotional the attacks are. 2/ How their hard work trying to destroy @JulianAssange's character is aligned with the powerful forces set out to destroy him and @WikiLeaks 5/9
And I wonder whether it is coincidence or design. Perhaps I'm old fashioned, but I consider that turning against any political dissident to be an act of betrayal and cowardice to the dis-empowered multitudes. 6/9
That @JulianAssange's method is transparency for the powerful, is a method I can respect. That he is unconcerned with the ideological inclinations of his readers and supporters of his method, makes perfect sense. 7/9
In not so many words, @JulianAssange's aim is education. Is it not common sense to think that as readers become more educated, their political opinions will become more nuanced and more aware of the injustices caused upon them by the powerful? 8/9
@WikiLeaks is counter-hegemonical. @JulianAssange is a courageous and
determined journalist. His revolutionary fervor is louder while silenced than that of all the supposed progressives who are now attacking him while he is unable to defend himself, put together. #FreeAssange 9/9
