Two years ago, my city was DEVASTATED by an unnamed storm that dropped over 3 feet of rain in 3 days. We had no warning. No weatherman knew this was coming.

My home was one of 10% in our city of 27,000 who DIDN'T flood. Abba Father created a vessel of me, and filled me with Providence for my city. Imet with the Mayor who handed me keys to a small, empty building on high ground, and I made a Facebook page. facebook.com/CentralDonatio…
We had no non-profit ID number, so many corporations wouldn't donate. It was that simple for them, yet shocking for me. Instead, what happened was an outpouring of donations and love from the regular folks. American citizens from states all over found my page. People like you. 💖
They rented moving vans and parked them in their neighborhoods for a make-shift donation location. They collected diapers, wipes, and formula; blankets and new pillows; toilet paper, soap, feminine products; cleaning solutions, mosquito repellant; things the people needed.
They bought things online at Amazon and WalMart and had them shipped to us. They sent money to me, and I reported what I bought with it on the page. Volunteers showed up. Many of them had just finished mucking (tearing the drywall out), & were waiting for their houses to dry out.
Some volunteers came and went as they worked on their houses, but a core group stayed. They stayed with me every day until the end of October, when our citizen's needs changed to building materials...that was out of my reach.
I really haven't processed it all. There was so much MORE to it. I guess I'm doing some of that processing today, as my community Facebook page tells the story all over again. Recurring themes:

Central Donation Center; The National Guard; Samaritans Purse; Friends & Neighbors; Free Food Trucks; Small Victories; Army of FEMA; Fraudulent Contractors Arrested; Discounts on Paint!; The Cajun Navy & Army; Friends & Neighbors; Friends & Neighbors; Friends &Neighbors;
VICTORY! Two years! Almost (almost) everyone is back in their homes. We're WAY smarter now. We know what it takes.
