SHORT THREAD. I know the idea of walking around and knocking on doors can be intimidating for some of you. Hell, I was literally shaking at my first house. That said, with practice, I have become pretty damn good at it. It has also shown me that there is nothing more effective.
Phonebanking helps, as does things like postcards to voters, but talking face to face is our greatest tool to help our candidates elected. I'm out doing it every weekend for @MikieSherrill. Do I get support from everyone who answers the door? Of course not, but, I do educate...
so many who say "I don't vote" or "are not into politics". I tell them how the GOP policies will effect them and the people they love. I keep saying this, but the ignorance and apathy out there is staggering.
Now, a bit of frank honesty and a bit of a guilt trip. Unless you aren't physically capable, we need you to put boots on the ground. Nervous? Go with a partner. Plan on spending a weekend day at the beach or the park?
Canvass instead. Have kids? Get a babysitter for a few hours. To defeat the GOP and take back the House, we all need to make sacrifices. So, I'll end it with this- be honest, are you truly doing all you can help? Don't wait. Contact your candidates today- only 81 days left. #GOTV

🌊SHORT THREAD 🌊
I used Twitter to vent for over a year. it was the only way to get out my fear, frustration, and anger. Then, almost 6 months ago, I decided to try to do something. Went to a Democratic primary debate for my congressional district, #NJ11
Met all the candidates, but one stood out for me, both because I liked what she said and the kindness she personally showed me that night. Her name is @MikieSherrill and she inspired me to finally get involved.
Since then, I've been volunteering for her. I have multiple chronic illnesses, so I wasn't sure what I could do. I've never been comfortable with the whole hard sell thing, so I thought I'd be bad at phone banking or canvassing. I was wrong.
