Hopefully the departed soul is settled now. So before history gets distorted under a fashionable wave of anecdotal sympathy, here's a humble thread to restore objectivity on Atal Behari Vajpayee:
1. He joined RSS at the age of 16. To be in RSS at such an impressionable age can indeed color the brain, in the event you have one, given that you joined RSS in the first place. Vajpayee had some brains which is why he strayed from the RSS and joined AISF, CPI's student wing.
2. AISF & CPI showed the up yours sign to nationalism and instead embraced internationalism. Which is as exactly opposite as RSS, as brains are from gobar. It also proves what a confused character Vajpayee was. Till date he remains a puzzle - Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde of politics.
@tanweer_bbsr@timesofindia Today's Times of India is completely taken over by the BJP. Shamelessly lower coverage to Congress. I am going page by page in this thread. See.
Now this is page 1:
Decoding the Assam mess. A tiny thread: 1. The NRC (National Register of Citizens is "supposed" to have names of "Indian citizens living in Assam."
The key point is: who qualifies as Indian Citizen in Assam. On what basis, with what proof, and importantly, from when.
2. Funnily the cut off is the midnight of 24th March 1971. So that is 47 years ago! So if you have been living in Assam for 46 years, contributing to Assam, taking NOTHING from India or Assam and only paying Income Tax, you won't be included in NRC regardless of ANY documents.
3. So therefore anyone who came to Assam 46 years ago is suddenly not an 'Indian citizen'. He is simply not. There is nothing he can do about it. Which means that the NRC produced right now which excludes this set, is not any "draft". It is final. So let's not fool ourselves.
1. For those who don't know, Shujaat Bukhari was once a journalist with The Hindu. Also he supported peace. Which is why he was always criticizing state violence and excesses by the army. So please understand WHICH violence he criticized
2. Shujaat was alligned to the cause of a free Kashmir, which is what most Kashmiris want. And he believed in a dialogue between Indian and Pakistan
3. As Manoj Joshi says in The Wire, the role of the invisible state in Shujaat's murder cannot be ruled out. The timining of it - a day before Eid - makes the state even more suspect. Dr Abdul Ahsd Guru and Dr Farooq Ashai were also gunned down a day before Eid.
My humble thread on why DU is hiding Modi's degree 1. It is out of consideration for poor Nehru. 'cause Nehru studied at Harrow, Trinity College Cambridge with an honors degree in Natural Science. But Science comes naturally to Modi. Infact Science reports to Nehru & Rajnikant
2. Nehru was influenced by insignificant people like Bernard Shaw, H.G. Wells, J.M. Keynes, Bertrand Russel, Lowes Dickinson and Meredith Townsend.
But Modi was inspired by towering personalities like Sarvarkar, Godse, Hedgewar, Advani, Ramdev, Sri Sri & Smriti Irani
3. Nehru, poor fellow, studied law at Inner Temple Inn. Modi studied lawlessness at the mighty Ayodhya temple. So what if the construction is pending since Ram
My modest humble thread on the spectacularly stupid idea of the bullet train:
For the convenience of commuters from Thane to Bandra Kurla Complex, the bullet train will start from Ahmedabad!
2. There are already over 200 trains from Ahmedabad to Mumbai packed with gujjus and dhoklas, the former more than the latter. Now the bullet train will also have gujjus and dhoklas, but now that latter may be more than the former even though the journey time . . Pls figure!
3. There are also about 10 flights from Ahmedabad to Mumbai with a return tickets sensitively priced for Gujjus and therefore rarely exceeding Rs 4000 which is less than the cost of 4 plates of a good biryani.
