Let’s talk about the recent European Union aid package, most likely pushed through by EU foreign policy chief @FedericaMog, intended for #Iran’s regime.
“The European Union agreed 18 million euros ($20.8 million) in aid for Iran on Thursday, including for the private sector, to help offset the impact of U.S. sanctions and salvage a 2015 deal that saw Tehran limit its nuclear ambitions.”
“It is part of a wider package of 50 million euros ($57.8 million) earmarked for Iran in the EU budget.”
First of all, $57.8 million is considered pocket money for governments these days and won’t remedy the pains #Iran’s regime is currently suffering. And the more to come in the near future.

Therefore, this is nothing but a publicity stunt.
Anyhow, even this money won’t be used to the benefit of #Iran’s people.
Rest assured the very last dime will go to feed Tehran’s proxies across the Middle East.

I explained in a recent thread:
And here’s Amb. @nikkihaley’s thoughts about #Iran’s support for proxies.
Returning to the Reuters report:

“The bloc will spend 8 million euros on the Islamic Republic’s private sector, including assistance for small and medium-sized enterprises and Iran’s Trade Promotion Organisation.”
#Iran’s economy is literally controlled by Iranian Supreme Leader Ali @khamenei_ir who “oversees an organization called Setad that has assets estimated at about $95 billion.”
And, #Iran’s notorious Revolutionary Guards (#IRGC) has launched a vast financial empire, discussed extensively by this panel.
Therefore, I assure you all of the EU’s $57.8 million will go into their pockets, not the people.
A final look at the Reuters report:

“A further 8 million euros ($9.25 million) will go to environmental projects and 2 million euros ($2.31 million) to fighting harm caused by drugs.”
About the environment:

“Iran has built 600 dams over the past three decades, with an average of 20 a year… But Iran has faced a severe drought in recent years, and the dams add to the environmental damage caused by the drought.”
And who’s behind this?

None other than #Iran’s #IRGC.
And what about #Iran’s drug problem?

Here’s a read from @TonyDuheaume explaining the #IRGC’s disastrous role in this catastrophe.
My conclusion:

1) The EU & @FedericaMog have stood by #Iran’s regime against the Iranian people.

2) Again, this entire issue is nothing but a publicity stunt.

I believe the EU is seeking concessions from U.S. President Donald Trump.

They won't get it.
As always, the conclusion is yours to make.

I welcome any & all constructive feedback.

Thanks for reading!

U.S. President Donald Trump has accepted the resignation of Nikki Haley as UN Ambassador.

My gut tells me an even bigger story will develop.

Rest assured #Iran's regime is terrified about who Trump/Pompeo will appoint as their new envoy.
Amb. Nikki Haley spoke six months ago with President Donald Trump about the subject of resigning.
Will be staying at this post until the end of the year.
Amb. Nikki Haley saying she will be campaigning for President Trump in 2020.

Add this to the long list linking #Iran's regime with international terrorism.

This time, the al Qaeda-affiliated al Shabaab militant group of Somalia.

More reason why a firm policy is needed against Tehran.
"Criminal networks are using Iran as a transit point for illicit Somali charcoal exports that earn Islamist militants al Shabaab millions of dollars annually in tax, U.N. sanctions monitors said in a report seen by Reuters."
"... domestic revenue generation by al Qaeda-affiliated al Shabaab 'is more geographically diversified and systematic' than that of Somalia’s federal government."

Reports indicate atmosphere in #Iran's parliament (the Majlis) is very tense as members review the anti-money laundering Financial Action Task Force (FATF) signing bill.
Sources say "hardliners" are voicing threats about the signing of this bill.

(File Photo)
"Regarding the FATF, should we commit suicide today by signing this bill because we're going to die in the future?" says Behrouz Nemati, a member of #Iran's Majlis (parliament).

Read more about Iran & the FATF here:
"Hardliners in Iran’s parliament have opposed passing legislation toward compliance with FATF standards, arguing it could hamper Iranian financial support for allies such as Lebanon’s Hezbollah, which the US has classified as a terrorist organization."

Short Thread:

#Iran's #FakeNews machine at work:

"It did not say where Zahedifar was arrested. In a video carried by state broadcaster IRIB, a blindfolded man who identified himself as Zahedifar denied he had fled Iran."
Here's the video.

What a coincidence (!), all of this developing just "a week after Tehran sentenced three people to death in a drive against economic crimes."
