इन्द्रियाणां हि चरतां यन्मनोऽनुविधीयते ।
तदस्य हरति प्रज्ञां वायुर्नावमिवाम्भसि ।।

indriyāṇāṃ hi caratāṃ yanmano'nuvidhīyate ।
tadasya harati prajñāṃ vāyurnāvamivāmbhasi ।।
यत् मन​: - That mind, चरतां - roaming (in external world), इन्द्रियाणां - indriya-s, अनुविधीयते - confirms/obeys, तत् - that mind, अस्य​ - for him, प्रज्ञां - buddhi, वायु: - Wind, अम्भसि - waters, नावमिव​ - ship, हरति - subjugates

When mind acts as per the whims of indriya-s, it deviates the buddhi required for meditating on Atma. The analogy cited by Krishna for this 'abduction of mind' is that of strong winds buffeting a ship on waters & abducting it's intended movements
Upadesa of Krishna on Indriya-s beginning with 'yada saMharate' shloka (58) ends here..

विधीयते is to be understood as वि - Ishvara, धीयते - Goaded..

Mind is stopped from becoming subjugated to Indriya-s that freely roam in external world.

Goaded by Ishvara, a 'paroksha jnani' takes refuge in vedas/shastra-s & other सत्-vishaya.
By this, the fate of ship being buffeted around in waters by wind is avoided by the jnani & he never allows indriya-s to take control of his mind

There lived a brahmana by name Devasharma in the south. He lived an ideal life following his household duties (tretagni upasana, bhagavad aradhana, helping atithi etc..). He also performed many yajna-s with utmost shraddha
Even after leading an ideal life, his mind was at great unease. He was very disturbed & wanted a solution to it

He went to a nearby forest where tapasvi-s were meditating. He did all kind of sushrusha (service) to them & finally one managed to tell his problem to one of them
That rishi suggested him to meet a cow-herder by name Mitravan in a place called Punya near Godavari Banks.

Devasharma met him at a grazing land in Punya-nagari. His face was absolutely shining & radiating with great calm.

अन्तकालेऽपि - at-least in dying years, अस्यां थित्वा - if this is observed, निर्वाणं - sukha-roopa, ब्रह्म - Atma, ऋच्छति - will be attained

विहाय कामान्यः सर्वान्पुमांश्चरति निःस्पृहः ।
निर्ममो निरहंकारः स शांतिमधिगच्छति ।।

vihāya kāmānyaḥ sarvānpumāṃścarati niḥspṛhaḥ ।
nirmamo nirahaṃkāraḥ sa śāṃtimadhigacchati ।।
य​: - that, पुमान् - person, सर्वान् कामान् - All desires, विहाय - left, निःस्पृहः - without attachment, निर्मम: - without mamakara, निरहंकारः - without deha-abhimana (ego), चरति - lives, स​: - that person, अधिगच्छति - will obtain the phala (Atmasakshatkaram)

A person who leaves all desires, leaves mamakara, leaves ahankara that person alone will receive Atmasakshatkara & attain Bliss
