1/12 I studied law which included UK constitutional and EU law. I had a fair understanding of the implications of #Brexit. 2 years on and becoming a volunteer legal writer for @infacts I have learned SO much more thanks to #Brexit
2/12 It’s been a lot of fun going back to the laws and refreshing my memory as well as building on that.
3/12 It is very important to note that the subject of the UK and EU is very complex and it’s reaches are vast. There were areas that we all were not aware of (#Brexiters and #Remainers) until #brexit became a reality.
4/12 EU law ‘flows into the estuaries and up the rivers’ which has happened over 40 years
5/12 It is therefore foolish for #Brexiters to keep claiming they knew exactly what they voted for. They did not. I remember in class A50 being joked about because no one knew what might happen or that a country benefiting from EU membership would actually leave!
6/12 In order for me to write my articles I have had to delve deep into details via my books as well as going straight to the laws themselves to make sure they are up to date.
7/12 Not everyone has a ton of thick legal textbooks or statute books so to claim that #brexiters knew exactly what they were voting for is hot air because once you ask for the detail none can be provided which is #brexit in a nutshell.
8/12 Politicians and the media never informed us properly. Why can #Remainers admit this but #Brexiters cannot?
9/12 No detailed assessments were made and presented to us. The campaigns just kept shouting at each other with Leave coming out on top due to cheating and blurting our slogans that touched emotions.
10/12 There is no will of the people to leave the EU especially when we were being told that we could have a Swiss or Norway style arrangement. Knowing what we know now there must be a #PeoplesVote
11/12 I hope sense will soon arrive and #Brexiters can see that they were played. The implications of leaving a vast legal framework has natural consequences...
12/12 #Remainers did not magically dream up obstacles to #Brexit being fulfilled. The leading #Brexiters just didn’t not tell you about them probably because they didn’t know about them.
2 The case is about free movement of goods which is one of the EU fundamental freedoms to promote the single market ie goods are able to move freely across the bloc.
