2/~ The Conservative party has three options: stick with this administration of clowns; ditch May and attempt a Canada-style deal with/without NI backstop; or call an election around a Norway-style deal, facing down the ERG and the UKIP entryists...
3/~ Labour, meanwhile, has the opportunity to create a hegemonic moment: spell out Norway-based alternative on White Paper and offer a second referendum on any deal. It's clear only Labour or Labour+ govt can move UK on from Brexit...
4/~ Incidentally, all the briefing to the May-friendly media turned out to be bullshit. She was nowhere near securing approval for Chequers +/- - we are not dealing with "27" countries; there are 3-4 major powers plus the Commission...
5/~ I cannot think of another person in British politics since Neil Kinnock who has played a decent hand so badly as May. We and future generations will pay the price for 2 years of time wasting...
6/~ It is also clearly now time for Parliament to take over the negotiations in the interim. @DominicRaab got his head around the realities just too late to have any impact: all contact with May destroys ministerial credibility...
7/~ To repeat: May had one job - to get EU27 to signal some kind of vague backing for a Chequers style deal. She failed. She has to go or we will be stockpiling food and medicine come the new year...
