#Tech in #Farming has been changing the world since the invention of the wheel millenniums ago. Since then, all new innovations either make crops easier to #harvest, more bountiful shorter farming time and more resilient and healthier crops.

Want to know what #tech is hot now?

#Hydroponics has been a thing for a while now while #urbanfarming is still a growing idea. Among #tech that are being used in #farming are drones, #IoT and use of data analytics to ensure the precise farming.

While some may not be tangible but they result to exponential results!

What about some of the exciting things in the pipeline for #agro and #farming in the recent future?

My favourite is #vertical farming! Taking up only a quarter of space, more land can be utilised differently and with proper planning, the farm will be automated better.

If this is done together with closed ecological systems that are isolated from external weather and other factors, it could mean highly efficient farming that can be year round and not vulnerable to weather changes!

Can you imagine what that would mean for farming?

Perhaps more grounded (ahem, pun intended) ideas like RFID would sound more viable to you?

Well, RFID tagging, GPS location and biometrics can mean automated surveillance and update on your livestock! Free-ranged animals can be monitored better while allowed to roam freely.

Extending on automated monitoring, precision farming means farming management based on observing (and responding to) intra-field variations.

Crop variability, weather updates and precise sensors means improved automated decision-making and complementary planting techniques.

All of this #advancement is for naught though if they remain #inaccessible and #unaffordable to third world country farmers.

The question remains whether these technologies will be #inclusive for all farmers. If everyone needs to eat, shouldn't we help each other farm better?
