"Celebrating #diversity just take a lot of space. Even with a tome this immense, diversity awareness means that there isn't room in all 1277 pages to mention…the Wright brothers."

vdare.com/articles/that-…
"Nation of Nations' section entitled "The Naval War in the Pacific," which covers the turning point years of 1942 and 1943, gets all of two pro forma paragraphs."
"In contrast, eight paragraphs are devoted to the internment of Japanese, seven to women and the war, and five to "Minorities on the Job."

Hilariously, the naval war gets the same amount of text as the 1943 Zoot Suit riot in East LA!"
"Of course, leaving out so many annoying white male Heroes of Accomplishment from the textbook doesn't mean that the historians have managed to dig up comparable diverse Heroes of Accomplishment."
"Well, needless to say, Joshua Chamberlain isn't in the Nation of Nations' index. I did find, however:

Chanax, Juan, 1096—1098, 1103, 1124, 1125"
"Who, exactly, is Chanax and why does he appear on six pages when Chamberlain can't be squeezed in anywhere?"
"It turns out Chanax is an illegal immigrant from Guatemala who works in a supermarket in Houston. This hero's accomplishment is that he brought in 1,000 other illegal aliens from his home village."
"The thinking, apparently: featuring an illegal alien so disproportionately will boost the self-esteem of the illegal alien students reading the book—which will then raise their test scores!"
"But how many are going to read all the way to p. 1096? And how many won't find it patronizing and depressing that the biggest hero these industrious historians could dig up for their edification and emulation was Chanax?"
"Maybe you just don't much like American history: all those Wrights and Chamberlains accomplishing great things get on your nerves. Then rewrite it, in the name of Juan Chanax and company!"
"Today's history textbook writers do have a problem: politically favored groups' general lack of accomplishment."
"For instance, Nation of Nations gives much room to Mexican-Americans down through the ages, in accordance with their vast current numbers. But the authors struggle to make them seem all that interesting or important."
That Dave Barry line is great, @Steve_Sailer.

"Thereafter, Barry interjects every 10 or 15 pages: "Also around this time women and minority groups were making contributions.""

Okay, I'm going to do a thread on what @bryan_caplan (who has me blocked) said about his support for open borders on @JimDMiller's podcast.

soundcloud.com/user-519115521…
Caplan says that Puerto Rico having open borders with the USA has lead to a tremendous gain. Really Brain? For who? It sure hasn't been good for non-Puerto Rican Americans. And it could even be argued that it has been bad for Puerto Rico.
Puerto Ricans Have Always Been Badly Off

@Steve_Sailer quotes The Atlantic from 1991

"As soon as the Hispanic category is broken down by group, what leaps out at anyone who takes even a casual look at the census data is that Puerto Ricans are the worst off ethnic group ..."

Okay, I'm going to do a thread going over & critiquing Ryan Faulk's (The Alternative Hypothesis) & Sean Last's recent videos.
Starting with Ryan's

Ryan starts out with saying that whites aren't politically all that exceptional. He says this because people in Europe don't support freedom of speech as much as people in America. Yes, his argument really is this stupid.

At the request of the coolest chick on twitter, I am going to do a thread on the Roman military. In this case I am going to compare & contrast the Roman Legions with the Greek/Macedonian Phalanxes, & maybe at the end talk a bit about cavalry.
Both the Legion & Phalanx were heavy infantry units, which meant that they fought in heavy armor & carried large, sturdy shields. Both started out being manned by citizen-soldiers but when empires developed they started to be manned by full-time professional soldiers.
Since both Greek & Roman societies were settled, agricultural societies, it makes sense that their main military units would be infantry. Nomadic or semi-nomadic societies (like the Huns) tended to build their military around cavalry.

@JFGariepy @HalseyEnglish @notcolloquial Listened to the first two hours of this. Will listen to the rest of it later.

The fact that CV didn't know that phontypes dealt with behavior and not just looks was surprising. I guess it's time to educate CV.
@JFGariepy @HalseyEnglish @notcolloquial A phenotype is the composite of an organism's observable characteristics or traits, such as its morphology, development, biochemical or physiological properties, behavior, and products of behavior (such as a bird's nest).

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phenotype
@JFGariepy @HalseyEnglish @notcolloquial Yes CV, the kind of nests a type of bird builds is part of their phenotype.

The kind of civilization that Western Europeans build is a part of their phenotype. Detroit under white rule was part of white phenotype, and Detroit under black rule is part of black phenotype.

Here's the @Andywarski-hosted debate on "Does Race Exist?" between @thealthype & @notcolloquial with guests @AydinPaladin & @HalseyEnglish

First I want to say I really liked @notcolloquial's debating style. Attack, attack, attack. Good stuff. I think @notcolloquial controlled most of the debate against @thealthype.

@AydinPaladin @HalseyEnglish @Andywarski
That being said, I think there were some major problems with many of @notcolloquial's arguments, & some were just wrong.

Hey everyone, I have a hypothesis for why it is that modern art & architecture is such garbage. Why it went from beautiful & amazing to crap. Thread:
In the paperback of "The 10,000 Year Explosion" by Cochran & Harpending it says on page 212 regarding Ashkenazi Jews: "They have high verbal & mathematics scores on other types of standardized tests ...
... though their visuospatial abilities -- that is, their ability to rotate three-dimensional objects in their minds, for example -- are typically somewhat lower, by about half a standard deviation, than the European average. ...
