My story. I met a Spanish woman in 2001. I married her in 2012 in Spain. For work reasons she continued to live in Spain and I continued to live in England
This didn't matter because we were both European citizens and we travelled freely between our two countries sometimes living in England, sometimes in Spain and sometimes apart.
There was no need for either of us to seek residency in the others country. We simply travelled, stayed at each other's houses, went on holiday together to other EU countries, paid our taxes in our respective countries etc etc
When I became Lord Mayor of Liverpool she moved to live with me for a year. Being fellow European citizens enabled this.
Now the decision to leave the EU has a potentially devastating effect on both of us and we feel like we are stepping through a minefield.
Who do I blame for this? Nick Clegg for opportunistically calling for a referendum in 2008, David Cameron for granting one to save the Conservative Party, Jeremy Corbyn for half heartedly supporting the Remain cause, Boris Johnson for putting himself before the country,
Theresa May for being so totally incompetent, all the Brexiteers for being lying toe rags. In short the whole damn lot of them. I want a #PeoplesVote and I want to #StopBrexit Nothing less.
