1) I reject this cynical, hopeless, inaccurate tweet. So much has happened since #SandyHook.
2) First of all, @MomsDemand happened. Started the day after #SandyHook, we now have a chapter in every state of the country; along with @Everytown, 4M supporters; and over 70,000 active volunteers who wake up every day and work on gun violence prevention like it's a job.
3) We've changed corporate gun policies at over a dozen major restaurants and retailers, including Starbucks, Target and Facebook, and we've helped thousands of local businesses to put up gun signage. When state laws don't protect constituents, businesses must protect customers.
4) We’ve defeated HUNDREDS of dangerous bills like permitless carry, guns in K-12 schools, and guns on campus in dozens of states. We've killed approximately 90% of these bad, @NRA-supported bills every year since #SandyHook by creating coalitions and turning out at hearings.
5) We've worked tirelessly to pass background check laws in eight states since the mass shooting at Sandy Hook, bringing the total number of states with comprehensive laws to 19. Nearly half of Americans now live in states that have closed the background check loophole.
6) We've helped pass laws in 25 states and the District of Columbia to disarm domestic abusers. Just this year, eight states passed these laws, and both Democratic and Republican governors signed them into law.
7) We've trained over 1,000 volunteers to present about safe gun storage practices and run their own trainings to educate their friends, families, and neighbors. We've held more than 1,000 Be SMART events in 40 different states: #BeSMART
8) In November, we won eight out of eight of the elections in which we endorsed candidates, including new gun sense champions who were elected governor in Virginia and New Jersey. In Virginia, polling proved that Gillispie’s close ties to the @NRA hurt him with voters.
9) And in November, nine of the 13 Moms Demand Action volunteers who ran for elected office won. At least 400 @MomsDemand volunteers and gun violence survivors say they plan to run for elected office in 2018.
10) Because of #SandyHook, @momsdemand began and grew rapidly to match the @NRA in passion and power. Together with @Everytown, we have closed the intensity gap and proven that in red, blue and purple states, gun safety is a winning issue.
11) Yes, we're all waiting for that cathartic Congressional moment. But Congress is often where work on social issues ends - not where it begins. In the meantime, a grassroots army of women, gun violence survivors and caring Americans has become David to the @NRA's Goliath.
12) If you haven't acted yet, it's time to get off the sidelines. Not just because of the horrific mass shootings or school shootings in our country, but because 93 Americans are shot and killed every single day. Text JOIN to 64433.

THEY DID IT!!! After Pennsylvania @MomsDemand volunteers worked to pass this bill to disarm domestic abusers for over three years, it is finally headed to the governor’s desk to sign it into law.
How did we do it? @MomsDemand delivered an open letter to Pennsylvania lawmakers in the House signed by over 7,600 Pennsylvanians. We drove tens of thousands of calls and digital messages to lawmakers urging them to support #HB2060.
We hosted five press conferences, throughout the week of September 5th, with state legislators of both parties, local law enforcement and concerned citizens. We hosted a “Protect Pennsylvania Families” rally with community leaders and lawmakers on September 24th.

Trump to woman reporter: "She's shocked I picked her, she's in a state of shock”
Reporter: “I'm not, thank you Mr. President”
Trump: "I know you're not thinking, you never do”
Reporter: "I'm sorry?"
Trump: "Go ahead"

This is institutionalized misogyny.

More. Trump shouts down a different woman reporter as she tries to ask him a question about Kavanaugh.

“Don’t do that. That’s not nice,” Trump tells her while wagging his finger.

Again. Trump cuts off a woman reporter who tries to ask him why it’s taken over a year for his administration to prohibit bump stocks after promising he would in the wake of Las Vegas.

H/t @atrupar - follow him for best video highlights every day.

Based on what we already know, the judicial record of Brett Kavanaugh shows he has applied a dangerous interpretation of #2A when determining whether a law is constitutional, and demonstrates an extreme view of the Second Amendment that elevates gun rights over public safety.
Kavanaugh made it clear he'd strike down prohibitions on assault-style weapons. He dissented from a decision upholding D.C.’s ban on assault-style weapons and its requirement to register handguns. The dissent put him at odds with every other appeals court to address the issue.
This matters because 10 years ago, in its ruling in DC v. Heller, the Supreme Court established a clear precedent: while law-abiding citizens have a right to have firearms at home for self defense, the #2A is not absolute and allows for common-sense laws to protect public safety.

He gave this speech the same day a U.S. Attorney in Massachusetts arrested a Trump supporter for threatening to fatally shoot journalists.
According to reports, the FBI searched the suspect's California home and seized 20 guns, both long guns and handguns, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.…
These alarming threats come just two months after an Annapolis, Maryland, man shot and killed five employees of The Capital newspaper. Prior to the shooting, the gunman sent threatening letters and messages about attacking the office and its staff.…
