Does Hinduism refer to Culture or #Religion?

Pls follow the thread to get the answer-

#SundayThoughts #Hinduism
#sundaymotivation #Sundaywisdom (1/7)
#Hinduism is a not a religion in the western sense. The name was originally invented by people who lived outside India to designate its geographical location, culture and ethnicity. The word became associated with native faiths of India much later.(2/7)
"Hindu" word came to us from Persia. Persians identified d people who lived south of d Indus river as Hindus.#Hindu came from the root word Sindhu and overtime it became Hindu from which came Hinduism. The Greek interpreted it as “Indos.” Hence,d Europeans used d name India.(3/7)
When you say #Hinduism - It refers to a way of life which people living in this subcontinent follow, they can follow any religion but there is a common thread which unites and connects us all despite different languages, religion, etc. (4/7)
The name #Hinduism gained popularity during the medieval times and became the norm during the British rule to distinguish Christianity and Islam from the native faiths.

Coming to religion - It's "Sanatan Dharma" that we follow: which literally means ETERNAL DHARMA (5/7)
Sanatan Dharma represents a code of ethics for spiritual freedom. It is a way through which an individual can attain moksha (liberation).

To attain Moksha there are different schools showing different paths like Vedanta, Samkhya-Yoga,etc.
(6/7)
Though we have started using Hinduism & Sanatan Dharma interchangeably but Hinduism is a Super-set & Sanatan Dharma is a Sub-set.

Today, we have contained #Hinduism in the box of religion but the meaning & essence is way beyond. (7/7)
