When someone criticizes a privileged group to which I belong, I try to stop and reflect to what extent I perform the harmful behaviors being discussed. That's my first move (aspirationally anyway). /1 #IntentionallyVagueTwitter
2) Of course my first reaction is to say #notall ... whatevers. I am human. I am flawed. But I recognize that and try to shift back to my aspiration of introspection and self-examination ASAP.
3) Then I think about ways in which I might improve. I think about what the critic is seeing that I might not be seeing. I try to shift my perspective.
4) If at the end of that introspective process, I really feel I'm doing pretty well, that's super! I still don't say #notall ... whatevers.
5) If I don't, if I see ways to improve, then that's pretty good too honestly. I am always working, always trying to come up with specific things I might do within the framework of the possible.
6) But in all cases, I think it's vital to recognize that marginalized folks, even if you are also a differently marginalized person, have perspectives worth considering.
7) And to recognize the validity of generalized critiques as a kind of default position not mitigated by one's own personal conduct or virtue.
8) I am so far from perfect in this. But I work hard at it. And Twitter, in particular, has been valuable for opening up perspectives I might not otherwise encounter.
9) So thank y'all for keeping me on the path. I'm going to keep trying to do better. And I'm going to keep trying not to "not all" y'all and just be glad that [this time] you weren't describing me. #IntentionallyVagueTwitter

3) The consequences for coming forward for Ford have been horrific, the rewards zero. The most likely reason to do this are because she's telling the truth.
4) People do make false accusations of sexual assault, but very rarely, and the people who do so fall into particular kinds of types. Ford fits none of those types.
“There are bright spots that the near-ceaseless negative coverage of the administration fails to capture: effective deregulation, historic tax reform, a more robust military and more.”
this is how the GOP became complicit in active white supremacy, family separation, and more.
The GOP decided to back the candidacy of the worst and least qualified candidate in modern history, a serial sexual predator, a cheat and a liar, a racist sexist ableist bigot.
Because tax cuts for rich people and deregulation to make $$ while poisoning the planet.
“Hitler is killing the Jews but we are trying to keep him from killing ALL the Jews. Meanwhile, why won’t the press talk about our tax rates?” - Anonymous Trump Admin.
Good morning. My theory on technology in the classroom is this: Our choice is between surveillance vs teaching students to use tech well. Bans will fail and fail increasingly as technology advances.
It's become clear over the last 4 years that it's difficult to persuade many people that ableism is a good enough not to ban laptops. I find that ... I find that infuriating.
The evidence that for many students using technology in the classroom has a negative effect on their learning is mixed, but strong enough in certain kinds of classes.
I'd like to know if an editor asked Bari Weiss about this paragraph in her own piece that contradicts her entire premise. /1
I understand that these incredibly rich people ALSO want to promote dehumanizing ideology without social consequences. I understand that they want this. /2
The wealthy always want total impunity and to be loved by the people they destroy. /3
