(1) Disgraced Obama holdover David Shulkin has now attacked POTUS publicly. What an idiot.

Privatization is a wonderful thing. Most importantly, #WeThePeople elected Trump in order to get the BEST & safest care for Veterans. I support VA privatization even more now!
(2) As Shulkin and other poor performing, luxury-traveling, bureaucratic former employees are finding out, YOU SERVE AT THE PLEASURE OF THE PRESIDENT. Period.

Great people like Kellyanne Conway, Mike Pompeo, and John Bolton have this doctrine firmly embedded in their minds.
(3) Going to the media to back stab the President that we overwhelmingly elected and support is a slap in the face of the people, who make sacrifices and pay taxes for the benefit of our Veterans who have been so badly treated by an extremely dysfunctional bureaucracy.
(4) I'm surprised POTUS tolerated Shulkin for this long. Even without the privatization angle, I was glad to see the back of him. Padding travel expenses is such a disgraceful way to behave. Especially when you are meant to be SERVING our Veterans, some of whom are homeless.
(5) If you are offered tickets to Wimbledon, you either give them to a deserving Veteran and spouse OR you turn them down. What part of that is difficult to understand?
(6) If POTUS wants to see some or all services partially or fully privatized:
>it's his choice, he's elected, you're not
>it's abundantly clear this would benefit those in need
>you're not there to advocate for liberal ideology.

Privatization is NOT a bad thing.
(7) New Zealand government services started being privatized in 1984. It was the IMF and the World Bank that encouraged our Labour (liberal) government to do it. 6 years later we elected National (centre right) & they continued it for 9 years. It worked then & it works now.
(8) Not everything gets privatized. A business case is made for changing a service & some stay public sector operated, for good reason.

But the left doesn't allow for that analysis. They just oppose all privatization on ideological grounds. They try to shield union members.
(9) Time and again we see the left placing the interests of employees ahead of service users. Now, employee interests are important but should they be placed ahead of homeless Veterans with PTSD, for example? If a private provider can help turn their lives around at lower cost?
(10) The VA is an example of what a socialized medicine system is like. If you have no private companies delivering the services, you get bureaucratic bloat, waste and ultimately tragedies like frail elderly being neglected in care homes and on and on.
(11) Yes, you can get poor outcomes in privatized services but it happens a lot less! A lot.

I've worked in the system at every level, from front line to management to contracting to service design to policy advising. Privatization must be in the mix, believe me.
(12) IMO Americans should embrace the privatization of govt services and ensure it is done right. Opposing this idea whose time has come is a waste of energy and means you won't get the chance to shape what the new services will look like.

Shulkinism is over. We're moving on.
(13) I also believe our time is better spent grappling with issues like privatization, ethical conduct, and pushing the MAGA agenda than taking distraction bait like most of the nonsense floating past on a daily basis.
(14) Instead of going away quietly and with dignity after years of (supposed) public service, Shulkin just ensured he will be forever seen as an Obama holdover who failed in his number one Constitutional duty to serve the duly elected President of the day. #KeepDiggingDemocrats
(15) Trying to deflect from your own failings by attacking the administration on substance AND style stands out to us all. Good riddance, David Shulkin. #YoureFired like Sally Yates, Andrew McCabe and all the rest.

You will not prevail. We the people will.

(1) Live tweeting the swearing in of Justice Kavanaugh, October 6, 2018.

The White House and then the Supreme Court will host the two ceremonies necessary for the Justice to take his seat on Monday.

#ThankYouSenators #GodBlessAmerica #Originalism 🇺🇸👨‍⚖️
(2) Brett M. Kavanaugh will soon be the 102nd Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the USA. He has earned this highest honor throughout his life, inspired by his trailblazing mother, Judge Martha Kavanaugh.

His title for these few hours is Associate Justice Designate.
(3) This statement from the Supreme Court explains the two ceremonies:

A directory of my 10 Kavanaugh threads, and counting. (I know, I surprise myself sometimes.)

#JudgeKavanaugh will soon be #JusticeKavanaugh and the American Republic will be preserved. 🦅
(2) This WaPo reporter is incorrect about the vote being "scheduled for" Saturday. The earliest time a vote COULD be held is Saturday pm. There's no reason not to hold it on Sun/Mon IF we need Daines. I think we won't. Read my 5 tweets about him here:
(3) An excellent short explainer about the fact that Mitch has the votes:

(1) A directory of my Kavanaugh threads since July 9, 2018.

I never planned more than a couple of threads about him this year but, I shoulda known the Dems would try to destroy whoever was the nominee this time.

Well, he fought back. #AmericanOfTheYear #JusticeKavanaugh 🇺🇸
(2) Like Democrats, I'd already decided how I felt about him before his nomination was announced. I live-tweeted the announcement, which was a great event in itself.

(3) I followed Kavanaugh's progress over the summer and on September 22nd, I finally wrote a thread about the preparations for the all-important hearing on September 27th. It covers the hearing before the next thread started the day after.

(2) Mitch laughing to himself about how absurd it is that he has to push his way through the crowd of reporters on 9/25/18.
(3) Sen Grassley is 85 years old. (Democrats have senators around that age, too.)

Today he had to hold onto a Capitol Police officer to reduce the risk of a reporter knocking him over. This has to stop. Senators must return to being able to walk around freely at work.

She's one of those women whose face lights up whenever she is around children. God Bless our great First Lady.

(1) Live tweeting the Senate tonight. @SenateMajLdr has to file cloture by a deadline tonight in order to hold the #ConfirmKavanaugh vote Saturday.

Watch the livestream and videos here:

(2) Cloture in the Senate is a procedural step that you can learn more about at the link below. The senate.gov website is the best resource for learning about Senate procedure and a lot more. Same for house.gov.

(3) Watching live Senate floor proceedings is boring as hell, as they pass bills for naming Post Offices, & so on. But every now & then, they confirm a SCOTUS judge. And this time, they will affirm our great #BillOfRights #DueProcess & the hard-won #RuleOfLaw. Seriously. 🇺🇸🦅
