What does "Minority Status' achieve for Aided Colleges ? #core1 Why are they fighting at this level?
1. It allows 50% quota for their own group 2. It immunizes them from 93rd Amendment Art 15(5)
3. There can be no OBC quota in aided minority (eg Loyola) 4. Most important --> NO FACULTY quota for any caste imposed - not even SC 5. Full freedom in recruitment
6. Fully funded by Govt, but nominees from Govt bodies in Council/board only have 'observer status' - i.e in permanent minority 7. Outside purview of "single window" or govt nomination. Can conduct their own screening tests (eg Stephens has entrance test above marks)
These are not just some Desi Jugaads - they *fundamentally* alter the shape of the future. No country in the world has anything of this. You can see in India - how no thintanki or "eminent jurist" will even broach this topic. #core1 is at that level.
8. Important to mention the OBC quota issue. Only aided minority are exempt from this. Since 2008 exemption from this is sought after. My guess: Most minorities may consider this particular group as suspect and political category.

Egregious cases of #RTE as activist hit High Court : Children equally suffer due - now not everyone can understand the issue here and the deception jagranjosh.com/news/admitted-… ; let me explain for benefit of public.
Imagine the following situation :
1 . You are a non-minority trust and have a school with 100 Seats. #RTE stipulates you set aside 25 seats for (whatever arbitrary quota Govt decides) -- all fine till now.
2. It is also the case that the 25 seats wuld have to be subsidized by your trust somehow - most likely by passing on burden to the other 75. Even here -- all fine till now. read on..

I have been screaming about the 93rd Amendment since Day 1 - the ground has shifted in institutional/control space in India in the meantime. This is the story of inaction (hopefully not cowardice)
Dear @BJP4India - be aggressive and confront Rahul's "protect constitution" yatra. EXPLAIN that BJP has done so many constitutional amendments for protecting SC/ST rights. Here is a list (use this in every meeting)
1999 : 81st Amendment = carry forward rule
2001: 82nd Amendment = relaxation in qualifying marks
BOTH for SC/ST - done by BJP.
2003 : 85th Amendment = Consequential Seniority
BENEFITS SC/ST ; also done by @BJP4India not Congress
