Sage Panini's manuscript Ashtadhayayi is considered to be reference book for all scholars of Sanskrit grammar. This thread explores a relatively unknown fact that his work also formed the basis of modern computer programming languages.
Mahrishi Panini is said to have lived around 500 BC acc to western historians. But this is at most an educated guess based upon context references of his written work. His manuscript Ashtadhyayi consists of 8 chapters and 4000 verses.
His work was first studied by a European linguist Franz Bopp in the 19th century; finding new ways to strengthen grammar rules for current languages. Many others followed: Panini; Ferdinand De Saussure; Leonard Bloomfield; Fritz Stall among them
Freidrich Ludwig Gottlob Frege of Germany (1848-1925) too was influenced by him; he became known as d First Logic Scientist of modern era. Even tho 2400 yrs before Panini had already written all that this gentleman claimd to hv discoverd firsthand.
During formation of grammar grids in his book, Mahrishi Panini made use of Auxiliary Symbols n they were very much helpful in making d rules of grammar stronger. Using same technique Scientist Emil Post (1897-1954) initiated development of a Computer Programming Language. (CPL)
Iowa State Univ of USA even developed a language named after him. It can be found at paninij.org
The MLBD Newsletter (Monthly for Indologicak Bibliography) in 1993 declared Mahrishi Panini to be the First Software Man Without Hardware.
In this article titled "Sanskrit Software For Future Hardware" it was said that "After 3 decades of trying to mold natural languages to computer programming, scientist have finally found that in this field too they've been defeated 2600 years ago"
It further says "We don't know where n how these symbols n rules were applied in tht era, but today many computer scientists of this world agree that in the modern era Sanskrit Grammar is capable of solving all problems of Computer Programming.
NASA scientist Rick Briggs also found a connection between grammar rules of Mahrishi Panini n Artificial Intelligence, d latest frontier of modern day technology. Research worth millions of dollars is being conducted on this in many western nations.
It is a pity that while rest of the world is aware of the superiority n potential of Devbhasha Sanskrit, we, its natural inheritors, have abandoned it altogether n often look down upon people who're fluent in Sanskrit rather than European languages.
Today is Vamana Dwadshi, the day Bhagwan Vishnu incarnated as a midget brahmin to tame the inflated ego of King Bali, grandson of Bhakta Prahlad and the erstwhile ruler of the three lokas. Read the story in the poetry thread that follows.
Mudras are specific hand positions used in Yogic tradition to facilitate smooth flow of various life energies through the human body. The word Mudra literally means ‘Seal’ (symbol) in Sanskrit. In Yoga each Mudra is a Seal of one specific life force.
Universe is made of 5 elements, and each finger represents one of them. The thumb represents Fire (universal consciousness); the index finger Air (individual consciousness); the middle finger Akasha (connection); the ring finger Earth (life); the little finger Water (flow).
When the 5 elements in our body lose their mutual balance, not only do we lose spiritual and emotional equilibrium; on the physical plane too various ailments can arise as a result. Mudras can help us restore that balance and gain direct benefits in all 3 spheres.
Our biggest excuse is when so many translations are available of every scripture that we ever want to read then why take up the extra load?
What we forget is much is lost in translation n each translation is affected by the translator’s individual understanding of the text.
Our scriptures are multi-layered. Every time we read, we may open another layer. But these layers are lost in translation n we read same layer each time, the one that translator opened. If it isnt in sync with our current spiritual stage, then we may miss the point entirely!
Why does gotra of a daughter change when married? Is there any logic behind it?
Infact there is an amazing genetical system we follow through Gotra Gyan.
The word GOTRA is formed by combination 2 sanskrit words Gau (cow) & Trahi (shed). So gotra basically means cowshed.
Gotra is like cowshed protecting a particular male lineage. We identify our male lineage/gotra as descendants of the 8 great Rishi (Saptarishi + Bharadwaj rishi). All other gotra evolved from these only.
Each human carries 23 pairs of chromosomes each with one from each parent.
