Once Upon a time, long long ago when there was no Internet, we used to phone buildings rather than people, when global trade was confined to a limited number of basic goods and very few services /1
There were Trades Unions. These organisations grew up protecting the rights of workers and furthering socialism and progressive politics in a highly regulated world of trade and capital. /2
Then in the 60s 70s and 80s they increasingly became less effective and struggling with new technology in manufacturing and global capital markets until one day they were brutally put down by the Iron Lady. /3
No one in their right mind thought this was a good thing except the money grabbing capitalist classes. But instead of adaptation and evolution the Trades Unions when away and sulked for many years. /4
Lo and behold time passes and the markets changed further and became more global, money and people moved and traveled and learned new things and languages and cultures. People adapted and liked what they had. /5
Shiny new things came, like mobile phones, we stopped ringing buildings, email and instant messaging all appeared as if by magic. The people saw opportunity and wonder and developed more shiny things and sold services all over the world. /6
Tim sold his ideas and development skills to huge global organisations like Google from his mum’s flat in Barnsley. Jony designed stuff for a fruit seller in California /7
Still the Trades Unions sulked waiting for their messiah. Then he appeared from the wilderness of the back benches, all grey and bearded like an aging hipster in a cardigan. He sang to the enthralled audiences at a music festival. He was the Jeremy Messiah we’d been waiting for/8
The Grey One won a great victory by losing a General Election but things were changing. And the gathering Momentum tried to take The Grey One onwards to better things and greater victories. But the Young Ones began to see through the Messiah’s message /9
For they saw the message for the #Brexit #bollocks it was. For the Grey One and his Momentum had spent too long in the wilderness and had failed to notice the the world had changed. /10
The world has moved on and the old Isolationist Ways and Luddite Tendencies were soon seen for what they were. #impractical #isolationist #devisive #authoritarian #racist #JustPlainStupid #StopBrexitSaveBritain #WeLiveInTheAgeOfStupid /ends
