I don't know that I have ever seen a District Attorney get more money from police & law enforcements sources in a shorter period of time - while more people are being brutalized & killed by those police than what I see right now in Sacramento.
THREAD
1. Sacramento DA Anne Marie Schubert is a conservative Republican - surrounded, empowered, and protected by a county of Democrats that Trump lost by 20 points.
She does their bidding. They support her. She takes all of the heat.
But her funding - it all comes from the police.
2. As I type this, Sacramento DA Anne Marie Schubert, in the wake of the shooting of Stephon Clark, has literally built a chain link fence around the District Attorneys office.
It's a metaphor. It's disturbing.
But the money trail behind it all is so much worse.
3. From all of the publicly available data, records online, and paper documents we could acquire, we have found almost $500,000 given to Anne Marie Schubert and her campaign by law enforcement sources.
It's a greater percentage of funding than I could find for any other DA.
4. While 20 different families that I have identified have begged Sacramento DA Anne Marie Schubert to investigate the police that murdered and maimed their loved ones, little did they know that she was regularly wooing those police & collecting enormous campaign cash from them.
5. In 2013, as she announced she was running to become District Attorney, the first large donation Anne Marie Schubert received was $10,000 from the Sacramento County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association PAC.
This is important.
She would soon be called on to investigate them. REFUSED.
6. DA Schubert received $500 from the LAPD PAC.
Then, in October 2013, she got $2,500 from the Peace Officers Research Association of California, headquartered in Sacramento.
In December 2013, she took in $5,000 from the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association PAC.
7. DA Schubert then received $1,000 from the Sacramento County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association PAC; another $500 from the Peace Officers Research Association of California PAC; and $5,000 from a group that called itself Friends of Sheriff Scott Jones.
8. In February 2014, Schubert received $2,500 from the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association Public Works PAC. In April, she got a check for $5,000 from the California Association of Highway Patrolmen.
9. In May 2014, DA Schubert received $3,000 from the California Correctional Peace Officers Association Local PAC, and then yet another $10,000 from the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association Public Works PAC.
10. In June 2014, the California Correctional Peace Officers Association Local PAC chipped in yet another $5,000 to DA Schubert.
In September, the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association Public Works PAC gave $10,000 to her campaign yet again.
11. That same month, DA Schubert received $2,500 from the Sacramento County Law Enforcement Managers Association and $300 more from the Sacramento County Probation Association PAC.
12. Public filings also show that the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association Public Works PAC, based in Sacramento, spent over $50,000 in independent expenditures for DA Schubert in addition to their huge contributions directly to her campaigns.
13. What we found next is one of the most disturbing findings in our investigation into who was funding Sacramento DA Anne Marie Schubert.
In 2014, she got the 1st of many HUGE loans, this one for $100,000 from a man named Michael Tsuchida.
Guess what?
He's a retired cop.
14. In May 2015, Sacramento DA Anne Marie Schubert received $500 from the Peace Officers Research Association of California PAC.
It's what happened next that is particularly disturbing and rather unprecedented for a DA - particularly one supported by Democrats in California.
15. Despite still not being in a campaign, DA Schubert received yet another $25,000 from the Sacramento County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association in October 2016. This came in the wake of so many horrible incidents of police violence.
What she did with the money is very problematic.
16. Schubert gave $2,500 to No on Prop 62/Yes on Prop 66, the campaign to save the death penalty in California and speed up the death row appeals process. In doing so, Schubert stood in opposition to the consensus of editorial boards across California.
What's next is even worse.
17. On Prop 57, Schubert did something out of step w/ voters. She spent $9,223.46 on printing and processing, and $13,970.94 on postage, for a statewide mailer asking voters to oppose Prop 57 — the most popular criminal justice reform initiative ever put before California voters.
18. Designed to speed up parole for nonviolent offenders and to overhaul policies on juveniles in the justice system, voters approved the measure 64 percent to 36 percent, by a margin of nearly 4 million votes. Schubert fought against it tooth and nail - & with money from police.
19. In March 2017, Schubert received $1,500 from the Sacramento Police Officers Association; then another $1,500 from the Sacramento County Probation Association PAC; $3,000 from the Sacramento County Law Enforcement Managers Association.
20. $500 more from the Peace Officers Research Association came in. Then came $3,000 from the Sacramento County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association, which has been the most reliable donor to Schubert’s campaigns — her next large donation from the group was $5,000 in September.
21. The next month, Schubert received another $2,500 from the Sacramento County Law Enforcement Managers Association, then $5,000 from the Sacramento Police Officers Association, and yet another $5,000 from the California Association of Highway Patrolmen PAC.
22. Schubert then received $1,000 from the San Francisco Police Officers Association PAC; $5,000 from the California Correctional Peace Officers Association; $1,000 from the Sacramento County Probation Association.
23. Next, Sacramento DA Anne Marie Schubert received yet another large donation of $10,000 from the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association Public Works PAC.
I need to pause right here for a moment.
This money that Sacramento DA Anne Marie Schubert is taking - hundreds of thousands of dollars - comes straight from the paychecks of police officers.
These are their union dues.
Of course they give them to her for a reason.
24. Last year, as her campaign for DA got back up and running, I found something very disturbing, yet again from Sacramento DA Anne Marie Schubert.
She took two more $50,000 loans from Michael Tsuchida - the retired Sacramento cop.
I've never seen that in my life.
What I'm about to say is so beyond the pale, so outrageous, that I had to consult several campaign finance experts to verify that I was seeing what I actually thought I was seeing.
It's as unethical as anything I've ever seen from a District Attorney.
25. In April's campaign finance filing, Sacramento County DA Anne Marie Schubert revealed that she is getting an in-kind donation from the Sacramento Sheriff.
Guess what it's for?
RENT, ELECTRICITY, and INTERNET.
They appear to be providing FREE OFFICE SPACE for her campaign
26. It gets CRIMINAL.
The State Auditor of California sent a memo to Sacramento DA Anne Marie Schubert recommending that she file criminal charges against the Sacramento Sheriff Scott Jones.
It's actually a despicable update on illegal false arrests from the NYPD. It's utterly shameful that they city has allowed these actions to continue for years on end.
Police & prosecutors should be arrested for what I am about to report.
The City of New York has ROBBED Pedro Hernandez of his childhood. He literally spent his entire high school matriculation fighting for his life with these bogus charges from police & prosecutors.
New York will ultimately pay his family tens of millions of dollars for this.
1. Tyrese Revels is shot on July 12th, 2015.
Pedro Hernandez was arrested for it on July 14th, 2015.
All charges were dismissed against Pedro on February 29th, 2016.
He openly & blatantly lied about his very relevant behaviors including his own words describing them in his yearbook - i.e. boofing, devil's triangle, etc.
An investigation would easily prove this.
Yesterday, Dr. Ford's testimony was calm, methodical, reflective, honest, patient, detailed, and imminently believable.
Brett Kavanaugh was a yelling, screaming, crying, sniffling, snorting, unhinged, privileged baby - avoiding questions left and right all day long.
Brett Kavanaugh's freshman roommate at Yale openly said that Kavanaugh was an uncontrollable drunk who would repeatedly become violent when intoxicated.
