According to incredible reporting in Mother Jones, the group started out meeting in the offices of Judicial Watch in early 2013. It was led by Ginni Thomas (wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas) and JOHN BOLTON. Yup.

This secret group of conservative journalists and activists met several times in 2013 and had a very robust agenda to say the least. The group was staging "a 30 front war seeking to fundamentally transform the nation" -- Groundswell had at least 10 different workstreams.

Lots to dig into here around the individual members and tangled web they weave. More to come on that.

Their goals included blocking Obama admin nominees, enacting voter ID laws, repealing the Affordable Care Act, and pushing scandals like Benghazi.

Another Groundswell goal which had its own workstream was "undermining the power of former GOP strategist and Fox News analyst Karl Rove"

This group of "journalists" is responsible for the changing the guard and pushing the GOP further to the right.

He was also on the advisory cmte of the Libby Legal Defense Fund. Dig deep enough and you'll find that friends of Scooter Libby are not fans of Karl Rove.

Groundswell, a group in which John Bolton was an active member, obsessed over taking down Karl Rove, who Scooter Libby blamed for his jail time.

Trump pardoned Scooter Libby at the close of Bolton's 1st week in the White House.

A long awaited victory for Groundswell.

Because GOP voters are living in a simulated dictatorship. Their news is being dictated by a small inner circle that pays RW media outlets to collude.

To say our country is divided is an understatement.

As for Leonard Leo, who picked judges for Bush 43 & now Trump, moves dark $ and is on board of Robert Mercer's Reclaim NY...

He does not hold a public office. No one voted for him. And he hand selects our federal judges. This is not what our founding fathers had in mind.

The Federalist launched in September 2013, just a few months after Groundswell took off.

It is the embodiment of Groundswell's goals.

It is the ground zero of every conservative scandal from the hoax Planned Parenthood videos (2015) to the attack on the DOJ (now).
