So: From @OSUtheJOURNAL's site: "The magazine is endorsed by The Ohio State University, and its contents determined solely by the editorial staff."
1. I have been told that @OhioState instructed the Journal's editorial staff to reinstate a piece they removed. #poetry#smallpress
2. I know some of the screen shots of transphobic, racist, islamophobic, sexist tweets that were sent to @OSUtheJOURNAL. Including a tweet threatening folks who want gun control with violence. Does @OhioState endorse this? Because it sounds like they do. #poetry#smallpress
3. Literary community: Do you want to support a journal that "endorses" a serial harasser of women & POC? Do you want to support a university that won't stand with its journal's editorial board? Tell @OSUtheJOURNAL & @OhioState what you think. Use your voice. #poetry#smallpress

This is some absolute bullshit in response to naming folks who have been targeted for harassment to the person who has been harassing them. For. Years.
Absolute. Bullshit.
Thanks for the doxing, The Journal. Y'all are still cancelled.
Writers, know that there is no safe space available at The Journal. They will name you to your abuser and they will cite legal precedent that honestly sounds pretty slippery to me but what do I know? I'm just a poet.
Just one more thing, because I need y'all to be crystal clear on this and this note from @OSUtheJOURNAL is muddy AF: They handed over our personal emails to someone who has harassed us. Who has stalked and harassed me for years. This furthers the toxicity we already deal with.
I'm just going to put this out there. Because I want to be very clear. And you can ask me questions, and I will answer some if I feel it's appropriate. BUT TO BE CLEAR:
1. I have emailed a publisher about an abuser they were publishing exactly once.
2. That publisher was @OSUtheJOURNAL. They have since disclosed my name and emails and those of another woman to the abuser. 3. THIS IS NOT OKAY. This is why victims don't come forward. This is why women/nbs don't speak up. This is why whisper networks are WHISPERED.
4. Yes, editors as well as writers have come to me to ask for information about abusers and advice on how to handle it before. I have treated each of these situations individually, but I am usually happy to share info with editors to make our community safer. 5. OSU failed us.
Hey guys. There are lots and lots of toxic magazines, abusive editors, shady journals, etc etc. Some of us have been actively trying to do something about this. But it is not safe or practical for anyone to keep or share a public "list" of problematic journals.
Not to mention, when you immediately ask "is there a list of places I should know about?" after someone mentions a problematic mag, you are totally asking someone else—usually women/femmes—to do the labor of paying attention to the community and researching publishers for you.
You are asking someone to give up information that they've gathered, often through their own encounters with abuse/harassment, without any sort of work on your part. & those of us who share this kind of info are often met with "oh he was nice to me" or "did that really happen?"
