Ok so let's talk about when you shouldn't do an interview folks... #thread Many of you academics want to be public, and that's great. But sometimes, our job is to tell the people who want to interview us that they have to come with the right questions.

So let me go one further on the Catholic church sex abuse issue and the Papal letter.. and BTW media, I'm at a conference, can't appear live till next week... I just want to clear up why I don't like that everybody should fast and pray in @Pontifex letter. This assumes that somehow, the parishioner is also at fault in these sexual sins of abuse perpetrated on children.

Many of us have taken this pain on LOOONG before the clergy cared about it. I'm going to relate briefly one of the reasons why I write about clergy sexual abuse in the Catholic church. When I lived in Los Angeles, a former priest of the parish I belonged to was arrested for child molestation...

Someone sent me an email about my piece saying it was hurtful and that I should be providing solutions about the church abuse...and that I was gurtibg good priests and people in the pews. You know...I bet this particular person hasn't read one word of the report. Because you'd be pissed too if you read how many children were raped and sexually abused repeatedly.

301 Priests who abused. So let's talk about this for a minute, because this is something that folks haven't talked about with Catholic church abuse... One of the things that has to be faced is that this abuse is generational. In other words, many of the abusers of children in the church were probably abused themselves. This is not to generate sympathy for their actions..

I'm going to agree with many of the people who said the media should stop covering Trump rallies and penning up the Press pool.. It is going to land someone in the hospital or the morgue. The Press Secretary let you all know this week what she and the administration think of the press. You are the enemy. Why continue to give this bacchanal of hatred and vitriol wall to wall coverage?

So I want to share something since I've been talking about protest, and while I know a little bit about it,I know someone who I admire very much who knows a lot about it- @DrMFBerry Mary Frances Berry- @DrMFBerry newbook "History Teaches Us To Resist" On Beacon books, is about protest, activism, and the strategies that work- and sometimes don't. I think this book is very important for where we are about to go now.

So, I know lots of people are saying lots of things about the treason weasel president. I'm not surprised yesterday happened, but we aren't talking enough about how pathetic he looked trailing behind Putin yesterday. I mean, Trump looked EMASCULATED. All of that bullying BS and bluster was gone, like his crusty ugly soul had been snatched out of him by Putin. Any Republican still braying about him as powerful is a fool.

So I'm going to go on the record this morning to talk about the weak Democratic party right now, and I'm probably going to get a couple of unfollows, but here goes. First, the recent spate of respectability displays over Maxine Waters by Schumer, Pelosi, that Bruni piece in the NYT and others just goes to show you that the Democratic leadership is SPINELESS.

One of the reasons that Trump and republicans are going so fast and furious with their complete takeover is that they don't feel the need to play fair about anything. I know I've said this to my friends a lot lately, but I just keep thinking about how South Koreans were in the streets EVERY DAMN DAY to get then President Park to resign washingtonpost.com/posteverything…

Today I had to exit Reading Terminal market earlier than I wanted to because of a drunk man trying to compliment me on my hair and be "my friend". Sigh. It isn't just young women who are harassed folks. I can definitely take care of myself, but after him incessantly asking for my phone number, I told him, no, I want yours. He could barely write. It was Pathetic.

All of these people squawking about civility are the ones who are still comfortable while babies and children are in tents in the border separated from parents. Your need for civility is not about politeness, but your need to avoid conflict, your emotional comfort,and not having to weigh in on the injustices of this current administration.

Here's how I feel about all of these people saying we shouldn't hound administration officials in restaurants. Why should I care abut what happens to these people when their minions and sycophants have called me and countless others the n word, bitch c___t rapists criminals and everything on here.

I've two things on my mind today.. the anniversary of the terrorist murder of 9 African Americans in Charleston, S.C. , and immigrant children being housed like animals on the border today in America. Both events products of racist white supremacists. While everyone is clutching pearls and saying this isn't America, how can this be, I tell you that this is America, everyday, all damn day. You just didn't want to reckon with it.
