EST. 2018, we are an organization of Black Americans who believe the workers should control the means of production in a democratic and decentralized fashion.

If we share works from Marx, we’re allegedly Marxists.
If we share works from Bookchin, we’re allegedly Bookchinites.
The Left’s infatuation with categorization/labels takes precedence over nuanced, scientific understanding, and this is at the core of our sectarianism problem.
For a solid grasp on why humans think this way, it is worth taking cues from the field of Human Behavioral Biology.
We‘d like to share some clips from a lecture series provided by Professor Robert Sapolsky at Stanford in 2010.
Here is Sapolsky on why we use categories + labels.

A pro-CIA article from a paper owned by a man who has a $600 million contract with the CIA.
Bold move.
PS: Notice how most people (including Leftists) STILL conflate “Communism” (the Marxian conception of a communist society) with State Capitalism. Sad.

“The west called [the Soviet Union] Socialism in order to defame Socialism by associating it with this miserable tyranny; the Soviet Union called it Socialism to benefit from the moral appeal that true Socialism had among large parts of the general world population.”

Warning:
@ezraklein of @voxdotcom is one of the most ruthless corporate shills in existence, and the Vox platform is constantly reinforcing dangerous agendas.
For those new to the actual Left, please make sure to read between the lines when/if consuming content from Vox.
To those questioning our assessment, please see a fairly recent example through the piece (tweet) shared below.
If you’d like more examples, see their videos on foreign policy, and feel free to have a thorough dig through @ezraklein’s Twitter history.
We believe Socialism must be global, just as Capitalism is currently global.
No one can unhinge production here in the U.S. from the global economy entirely; it’s all connected.
The goal is to maximize ethicality in building dual power.
Be wary of Leftists who only speak in abstracts, and who indirectly promote inaction through their analyses.
There is no ethical consumption or production under this global capitalist system.
This is not an excuse for exploitation; it is merely the reality of our situation.

We’re going to be honest:
Too many Leftists lack an understanding for what Capitalism is, not as an abstract socioeconomic system, but as a MODE OF PRODUCTION.
Move past LABELS and watch @profwolff break down Capitalism as a MODE OF PRODUCTION using simple arithmetic.

“It’s really only ‘do ya got it?’ or ‘do ya not have it?’
And if ya have it, you can be the employer.
And if you don’t, [then] ya can’t [be the employer].
The fact that the employer who has it didn’t produce it is a nagging problem we prefer not to ask [about].”

Just as is the case with MLK, people don’t like to mention the late, anticapitalist views of Malcolm X too much.
This thread is Malcolm X on both Capitalism and Socialism... in his own words.
At a symposium in May of 1964, when asked what political and economic systems he wanted, Malcolm X stated:
“I don't know.
But I'm flexible.
As was stated earlier, all of the countries that are emerging today from under the shackles of colonialism are turning toward Socialism.”

Sectarian Leftists:
Please stop cherry-picking the racist, sexist, and/or sexually prejudiced views of specific Socialist theorists and/or revolutionaries of the past in an effort to discredit ALL of their contributions to the science, and/or humanity.
Here’s a thread on dogma.
Both Marx and Engels expressed racist views.
Fred Hampton referred to some as “faggots.”
If you look back far enough into the pasts of humanity’s most influential leaders, you will almost always find problematic sentiments that they have shared, or even problematic behavior!

Let’s dissect the term and/or concept of “white privilege” and how it has been mistakenly used over the last few years by Liberals, Conservatives, and confused Leftists drawn into misinformation and propaganda (once and for all).
You might want to bookmark this thread.
We want to begin by recommending that “white” Americans new to the idea of Socialism read both volumes of Theodore W. Allen’s “The Invention of the White Race” before even THINKING about cracking into “Das Kapital” or any of the Socialist “classics”:
How do we dismantle the Leftist purity contest & shift more attention toward outreach at an individual & collective level?
We must spot egoists & opportunists & call for public assessment of who is stoking the fires of division vs. contributing to a greater class consciousness.
More Leftists need to consider the effectiveness of being the bigger person in the context of discourse with people who don’t have a certain understanding.
Does calling a stranger an “idiot” over the internet really contribute to the awakening of a greater class consciousness?

Despite the Liberal co-opting of International Women's Day, it was and remains a SOCIALIST holiday. It was established by the international SOCIALIST movement as a critique of Liberal feminism as it existed in the early 1900s, which was largely a movement of affluent white women.
The day was originally celebrated on March 19th to commemorate the failed German Revolution of 1848. It was later changed to March 8th to commemorate the day of the February Revolution (also the day women were granted franchise for the first time in Russia).

Black American vs. “black” American...
Ethnicity vs. race...
Let’s break it down.
People have been reaching out to us over the last couple of months asking us to define the “Black” in “Black Socialists of America,” and the responses we have given have been described as both “enlightening” and “the EXACT answer I was hoping for,” so we figured we should share.

In order to convey the reasons why the fight for the enrichment of the human experience and the sustainment of the human species is our most important fight as a collective, it requires that you take some through a fundamentally metaphysical conversation at the individual level.
Assuming you come from a secular position, it is very clear from an individualistic standpoint that following the death of your physical body (and with that, your consciousness), there may be nothing, but your physical essence is recycled back into planet earth.

Many Black Americans have a difficult time reconciling the fact that despite so much of what we eat, the ways in which we dress, & the languages we speak being a reflection of our European enslavers/oppressors, there is much we can learn from European truth seekers & scientists.
Truth has no color; this is precisely why those who speak it can be of any color, or come from any ethnic background...
You can call the scientific method whatever you’d like in whatever language you’d prefer; the core meaning & focus remains the same.

Some are coming to us concerned because we are using social media to organize. They reiterate that the state can catalogue our members because we are grouped together online.
The harsh reality is that the state already has this capability, with or without us *organizing* online.
By you just being online, and merely sharing your (or others’) views through personal social media accounts, the state can identify and catalogue you (group you with others).
The state has the capability to do this through incredibly illusive means (analyzing less obvious data).

James Baldwin on Socialism: A Thread Derived from a 1972 Interview Featured in “Conversations with James Baldwin” (1989)
Walker: "Most newly independent countries in the world are moving in a socialist direction. Do you think socialism will ever come to the U.S.A.?”
Baldwin: “I would think so. I don't see any other way for it to go. But then you have to be very careful what you mean by socialism.”

People are purchasing guns, dressing in paramilitary clothing, and taking armed combat (CQC) training courses as if they’re preparing for war, but can’t even tell you who their local/state/federal representatives are.
Do you know the power of the U.S. state in the 21st century?
The current power dynamics in the U.S. are not the same as the power dynamics of the early 20th century Russian Empire.
We are a more technologically advanced and integrated society, as opposed to a backward feudal state in perpetual conflict (both externally and internally).

We have received messages from Black Americans expressing that, for years, they’ve hoped for something like what we’re trying to build.
We have also been blocked by Black Americans who do not trust the motives of this group.
It is clear why something like this has not existed.
Virtually all of the Black Americans who have been on the cusp of uniting poor and working class people (of all ethnic groups) for radical and peaceful change have been assassinated by the state.
Americans remain divided, and pulled to irrational extremes.

Socialism = Pro-Humanity
Capitalism = Pro-Capital
Black American Socialists are pro-HUMANITY. It’s right there in the name!
Of course we (BSA) are starting with and for our own, because we remain at the bottom, along with our Indigenous American kinfolk!
Don’t let the media and entertainment industries confuse you; representation in media is important, but many seem oblivious to the fact that Black Americans make up around 12.6% of the American population.
Indigenous peoples make up around 1% of the American population!

A particular kind of elitism enshrouds hard leftist circles today. It is unfortunate that a significant portion of those who have been afforded a higher education, & who have attained more information than the average American, have little-to-no interest in constructive activity.
There also seems to be few who actually have an understanding of what Socialism is. Most just seem drawn to the feeling of empowerment that comes with associating yourself with the “radical left” of the past. There’s little talk of principled action that leads to tangible change.

Next time a hard leftist tells you that @BernieSanders isn’t a real Socialist, here’s an extensive Twitter thread outlining his history that you can share with them (with sources, courtesy of Reddit user /u/Rvb321).
1) While attending the University of Chicago, Sanders was a member of the Young People's Socialist League, and he discusses his reasons for joining it in this interview:
