My Mum votes @Conservatives because in the 1970s & 80s she felt they supported her aspiration to work herself out of poverty. She’s not political & so continues to vote for them almost habitually.
Mum was neglected as a child,didn’t attend school & lived in poverty, she left Home at 16. In her 20s she married & move to Holland with my Father for work (using Freedom of Movement) She worked & gained skills in Horticulture and then moved back to England with her savings from Holland & set up a business. When my Father turned to alcohol & became violent
