well fwiw it is known (and denied, heads-in-sand style) that gen Z is v "conservative" (in the dubiously limiting L/R 1D nomenclature)

i've always been adidas so i don't have much to think about on this one

(if i'd always been nike i doubt i'd think much or change either, but) incidentally, "conservative" here just means

we wear athleticwear for, or to signal participation in, athletics. as such we expect athleticwear brands to promote an image of performance and athleticism

this is lifestyle brand adverts 101. nike's image is not pure athletics now

so i tortured some unfamiliar artists out of the pandora algorithm. (it's so good at that, if you use it right. too bad the "premium" audio is an absolute joke.)

anyway one of them is the greatest thing ever, and i'm going to share it with you all

gif very related if you're into any rock music where the subgenre is "melodic", "symphonic", etc -- you'll have noticed how many mainstream artists / bands in those niches are technically christian

but i bet you've never seen a (christian) anarchocapitalist nu metalcore band

so, i was listening to some new (to me) @Amaranthemetal stuff on Tidal

they don't really do filler tracks like lots of bands, so i click on a single, presumably from an upcoming album, which, fuck yeah about that too! anyway

mere seconds in, my brain already has two conclusions t+2, yesss, this song is my favorite kind of Amaranthe

t+13 "ohh right i haven't seen Attack on Titan in ages, how behind am i?"

there is 100% chance this song will be a candidate for the intro piece on any action animes in production. the arrangement and pacing is *textbook*

"ay, isabela. lo mismo, the world. it is going to a shitshow in a handbasket to hell" a bit melodramatic and the absolute madrina of all mixed metaphors but i have to say, it has a nice flow to it

lmao. oh the vogonity

guns are cool but can't buy iced tea or razor blades (the tea is apparently bc ppl throw them at cops?)

America is apple pie and agents of the state enforcing "is this a hidden camera show" levels of self-contradictory rulesets with a straight face this thread is something else

despite the insanity, things are looking up:

for years we've watched people who were otherwise very qualified for a thing, have that thing taken away for a prior bad habit of publicly saying dumb shit, or edgy shit, or "yeah i hear you but ehh still seems kinda [x]ist" shit in sarah's case she was (probably, mostly?) just being an edgelord against a permitted target, not unlike the constant jew jokes on 4chan

buuuuttt there's also pretty clearly something deeper that hopefully she'll deal with; there's all too often a tinge of sincerity in her edge

overlooked (thus far) thing that came out on today's Q2 earnings call is Tesla's ASIC-ized their vision processing and it's pretty much ready for deployment

this is the same advantage Apple has over Android handset makers in the upcoming AR/VR wars and it's significant doing things on GPUs, CPUs, APUs, whatever -- a well-designed ASIC will always beat it on whatever metric you choose (performance per dollar, or per watt, or whatever) by 10x or better

so what's the ETA on publicly traded cos noticing that corporate virtue signaling, kissing the rings of the Professionally Outraged, and/or kowtowing to cardboard-cutout mobs has neutral stock impact at best—but usually fairly meaningful near to midterm *negative* value? (what's the ETA on shareholders / boards noticing and starting to take execs to task for it? what's the ETA on somebody actually getting sent packing for violating their fiduciary obligations—you know, instead of, say, using "the N word" **in a quote about not using that word**)

how weird that this might turn out to be one of the timelines where Thanos in the end was actually a paranoid and clueless Disney exec reacting to a very loud but tiny group of morons due to the confluence of where scripts currently stand, where the phase 4 plans sit, who's "allied" (worked most closely) with who, if Gunn isn't hired back, and if things don't go pristinely, this will go down as the moment that launched the beginning of the end of the MCU

dependent on your state there's a really curious life hack around jury duty. i'm not sure if i should describe it in texas at least, there is a category of theft reserved for shoplifting items of total value not exceeding $50. it is a simple citation (for your first offense, that is) of the same severity as a moving violation. so like, speeding ticket, rolling a stop sign, etc

we have officially lost the motherfucking plot help vishnu

everyone has suddenly lost every one of the (already-rare) working brain cells in their toddlerfucking minds

ironically, illiteracy on the part of writers contributes to the perception of trump's illiteracy. this is not how a competent writer would transcribe trump's speaking style, which is an extreme stream-of-consciousness with highly nested parentheticals just bad faith all around

Basically, yep. A very direct analogy familiar to my crowd might be to say that we effectively do intuition in hardware while reason is performed in software Some things, at human-relevant timescales, *can't* be done in software. Things like this are common in realms like sports. You can't hit a baseball without the "hardware acceleration" we call muscle memory, in this case. Muscle memory is just one manifestation of the same thing.

STORY TIME. at 16 I mixed a preworkout drink and some redline and nearly died lol. felt the "sense of impending doom", totes a thing and you know it once you feel it. (It was 3 AM and I was tired and wanted to power thru it and hit the gym.) I googled the severity of my symptoms I was experiencing periods of fibrillation but they were less than 30 seconds in length, usually 10 to 20. Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation would be the technical term. During these, the world desaturates and darkens, and then comes back when it subsides. And repeat

Dear pundits. There's a really easy way to fact-check whether US ships fired tomahawks into somewhere. Well, easy if you're prepared ahead of time, which you should be bc this is your job. Also, OPSEC / COMSEC thread, and how the Navy plays checkers instead of chess with COMSEC So all US Navy ships have internet and the sailors are allowed to use it. So then, there's a constant flow of posts, reposts, likes, RTs, etc to public social media accounts from all US Navy ships at any given time. Except for basically one of two times.
