Starting to see the (inevitable) hot takes come out on why the Senate Democrats couldn't stop Kavanaugh.

Say it with me now: 🗣 They don't have the majority. 🗣

But good news. We can change that. Here's a quick refresher. 1. At present, the Senate breakdown is 51/49, with the Democrats in the majority.

Ok. Let's recap what's going on, since Twitter is chaotic ATM.

1. McConnell just filed cloture. Here's what that means:

2. This is despite the fact no Senators have seen the FBI report - yet. They're not seeing it until tomorrow morning.

The report is being released to Senators/staffers ONLY.

Ok, all. It's officially Wednesday, so here's what's next w/ #Kavanaugh.

1. The FBI investigation will likely be concluded today. The report will likely be filed (TBD) w/o an interview Dr. Ford, or classmates listed by Deborah Ramirez, and no Julie Swetnick. E.g. A story covering how the FBI won't interview Dr. Ford. cnbc.com/2018/10/02/fbi…

In other words, we can hope for the best when it comes to the investigation, but we're mostly likely going to get the worst.

New thread of scripts for Judiciary Senators. #SCOTUS #Kavanaugh

1. Chairman Grassley. His achilles heel seems to be accusations of being unethical. Get him on that. Remember: only he can pull the vote.

DC: 202-224-3744

Link to regional offices here: grassley.senate.gov/explore/region… 2. Orrin Hatch.

Mitch McConnell is currently complaining about:

✔️ Dr. Ford
✔️ Senate Dems
✔️ Senator Feinstein
✔️ The resistance

And is also trying to claim Senate Dems betrayed Dr. Ford, by leaking to the press.

Call your Senators to say NO to Kavanaugh. 202-224-3121. McConnell is currently praising the integrity of Chuck Grassley, and letting loose on Senate Democrats.

Is also criticizing the veracity of Dr. Ford's story, and trying to paint her as unreasonable for having accommodation requests.

Per @RonanFarrow @JaneMayerNYer, Senate Democrats are investigating a new allegation of sexual misconduct against Kavanaugh. It's from a Yale classmate of Kavanaugh's.

Please make the time to read this and CALL YOUR SENATORS. (202) 224-3121

newyorker.com/news/news-desk… This final paragraph is key. We have to vigorously support and defend Deborah Ramirez, just like Dr. Ford. We've seen how the GOP has tried to smear Dr. Ford, and they're going to do the same here.

She has to know we believe her, and support her for speaking up.

Periodic reminder:

Kevin Cramer is running for Heidi Heitkamp's seat in North Dakota. Polls have been close, and some have shown him winning.

He can't be let onto the US Senate. Period. Defend Heitkamp's seat. And polling, via @RealClearNews realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2018/se…

Morning, all. Here's the latest on #Kavanaugh/#SCOTUS

1. Dr. Ford's family has penned a letter of support. Please read/share. 2. Per Grassley's letter from yesterday, Dr. Ford has until tomorrow to decide if she wants to testify on Monday.

Currently triple-checking the SCOTUS timeline from the last 72 hours for the newsletter, and basically:

1. Keep calling your Senators, since the GOP increasingly look ready to go w/ the "Oh well, we tried - let's vote!" path. To wit:

2. Don't assume Judiciary won't try and call for a vote on Kavanaugh next week. Be very, very vigilant about that fact.

Remember: the GOP want this done before 10/1 - when the next SCOTUS session begins.

*Deep sigh*. Arizona friends, you know what to do/what to call for. And if you missed my last thread:

Please make the time to read this, and then call your Senators. A key paragraph.

Periodic reminder re: #SCOTUS -

Please do not electeds who don't represent you. There are better ways to be effective, other than tying up lines for actual constituents.

You can:
✔️ Encourage friends/family/coworkers in those states to call
✔️ Donate to groups protesting ✔️ Volunteer for candidates challenging those incumbents, etc.

Your impact is greater encouraging activism from your personal circle and asking them to pay it forward, vs. you calling every senator and having your calls disregarded.

In #SCOTUS news: Susan Collins is now complaining the CrowdPac fundraiser against her is a "bribe".

mic.com/articles/19123… So again, if Senate Collins represents you, call her.

Remember, this is an awesome scenario, but it involves holding:
@McCaskill4MO
@NelsonForSenate
@HeidiHeitkamp
@JoeforIndiana

And supporting critical challengers:
@PhilBredesen
@BetoORourke
@kyrstensinema

Have you:
✔️Volunteered?
✔️ Donated?
✔️ Spread the word? This also isn't the full list of senators you should be paying attention to: @Roadto18 has the list of critical incumbents here:

roadto2018.com/senators.html

But the ones I've listed are the most urgent races.

Ok, all - it's Sunday afternoon/Sunday evening. Now is the perfect time to leave some voicemails for your Senators.

To start:

1. Here's a recap on four days of #Kavanaugh/#SCOTUS testimony. pbs.org/newshour/polit… 2. Kavanaugh said a LOT of disturbing, unsettling things across his three days in front of Senate Judiciary. All of them matter, but (imo) it's perjury which can persuade GOP senators.

A good write-up from @Slate
