Around 2005 (roughly) there was a company called Connaught which was one of a few building companies involved in a massive refurb in Hackney.
Over £140M invested in the area.
The company got so big it was buying companies that were sub contracting works.
Balfour Beatty were already getting paid for works before they tendered for them.
The company I worked for were paid by the British Army, Thames Water and other water companies BEFORE we tendered for work.
