Wilderness is disappearing at an alarming rate. Here I show that the maps created to show our fragments of remaining #wilderness are sadly too optimistic. Green is wilderness (sedac.ciesin.columbia.edu/data/collectio…) red are roads, the orange areas where they overlap are misclassified as wild.. The reason for the disparity is the difficulty in accessing global road layers that have ALL the roads. I gathered state and provincial road layers for BC, AB, WA, ID, and MT here to show how the generic road layers used in the wilderness maps do not portray remaining #wilderness
