Just got off a group coaching call with new copywriting students
One Key Takeaway 🔥
Think about your "entry point offer"
This is your Core Offer
You LEAD with this offer
Don't say "I can do this and this and that and wash your car and walk your dog too"
-> GET FOCUSED <-
What's your "hook?"
What's one result you can deliver?
You need to make the result you deliver easy to understand
Don't confuse your clients by telling them you do 15 different things

THREAD // Stick With What You Know
Had a conversation with a coaching client yesterday
He had a background in tech... but was trying to work with real estate clients... even though he doesn't understand the RE business anywhere as much as tech
This is a common mistake freelancers make
You try to go too far out of your circle of competence right outside the bat
There are probably certain markets or niches you're drawn towards that are good, profitable niches to work in

Had a coaching call with a reader today
One of the key takeaways:
If you've NEVER made money online, learning Facebook ads, ClickFunnels, email marketing, affiliate marketing and copywriting - at the same time - is HARD
Simplify as much as possible
Start with the fundamentals
- One target
- One offer
- One platform
Use as little tech as possible
Validate your offer
Sell it
THEN, maybe, add a second offer
But you gotta walk before you run

It's hard to monetize a blog if you focus entirely on blogging
Takes time
But... there IS a way you can monetize it quickly:
Offer a content creation service for businesses like e-com stores
Handle ALL their content creation, from strategy to metrics
- Offer to do market research
- Offer a content strategy that generates leads
- Create blog posts, social media posts, lead magnets, etc
- Offer performance reports
Just got off a coaching call with a Freelance Copywriter
Many of you are getting in your own way
Coca-Cola doesn't 2nd guess themselves and neither should you
- - -
Here's an idea:
Post content on ONE platform every day for the next 30 days
See what happens
Of course, you won't do this
You'll read my Facebook posts and my Twitter threads and emails
But you don't CREATE anything
You'd rather be invisible and lose thousands of dollars because you're scared

‼️A few tips from today's Reader Q&A
When it comes to cold emails:
Remember - this is a COLD email
The reader doesn't know you, so you need to get to the point quickly
- Who are you and why should the reader care?
- Why are you contacting them?
- What are you offering?
- Why should they act now?

THREAD // Moving Abroad And "Geo-arbitrage"
I've had a recent shift in thinking..
A lot of people will tell you you should move to a big city like NYC, LA or London to put yourself in the best position to succeed
But I don't believe that anymore...
The idea is that you'll meet all these super successful people who can help you advance your career and your business
But is that true?

Texting ==> FAST
Online dating == FAST
Uber ==> FAST
Smartphones ==> FAST
Meal delivery ==> FAST

Building a business... SLOW
==> So learn to have patience
We've been conditioned to get fast results
Especially the younger generation
But business is a long game...
Don't cry because you didn't get rich this summer
I've been working 7 days a week for over TWO YEARS
And that's not even a lot

THREAD // What Does It Mean to "Sell Money At a Discount?"
You may have heard this phrase before, especially when it comes to online courses
And you might find it a little confusing, so let me explain...
Every purchase has a cost/price/fee associated with it
You spend your money on something and get something in return
Maybe that thing is food, clothes or gas for your car
Whatever it is, you've spent that money and now that money is gone

THREAD // How Do I Build Confidence If I'm Just Getting Started And Have No Clients, Case Studies, Testimonials or Results?
The same way you build confidence in other areas of life
By doing things REPEATEDLY and SUCCESSFULLY
This topic came up today in my coaching program...
The problem is that you're worrying about a future that hasn't arrived yet
"I don't know what the 1st step should be once we start working together"
Your income is up and down because you don’t set yourself up for recurring revenue
Both client and freelancer benefit from CONSISTENCY
You get consistent cash flow and the ability to understand and impact your client's business on a deeper level
Your client gets someone reliable who they can trust to deliver results

THREAD // Masculinity, Tribes and Success
I'm almost halfway through reading Becoming a Barbarian
Read The Warrior Ethos and The Way of Men first since they flow nicely together
This is not a summary
Just some quotes and observations that have stood out so far
1) What does it mean to be masculine?
"Understanding masculinity means understanding that men can only reach their greatest potential through vital CONFLICT and COMPETITION with other men."

Business owners need to be problem-solvers
Every biz owner needs to think about the problems NOT being solved in their market
- What can you do BETTER? DIFFERENT?
- What's MISSING?
- What do people COMPLAIN about?
Whenever people say, "I wish...." they're talking about a market OPPORTUNITY
"I wish cabs were cheaper and easier to use" ==> Uber
"I wish I didn't have to go all the way to the video store" => Netflix
"I wish it didn't take me so long to cook" ==> Blue Apron

10 Personal Branding (PB) Lessons
1. Authenticity is when who are in your personal life is aligned with how the public sees you
2. Better to be known as effective than likeable
3. Personal branding is not a business model
It’s a promotional tactic
4. You need to provide value / skills
Celebrities who are “famous for being famous” are basically personal brands without tangible value
"if you have an online business or you're thinking of starting one, remember that it's okay to SELL because you're providing a solution for someone who needs a problem SOLVED now."
A lot of people hate sales
A lot of aspiring freelancers and online business owners are uncomfortable with sales too
So you struggle
You have it wired into your head that sales is bad
"Aggressive"
"Sneaky"
So you struggle

Talent stacks create money stacks
One of the biggest, recurring excuses (I mean... reasons) you aren't making money online is you have no skills
Well... get some!
A few years ago I had no online skills either
Then I learned some web design, content writing, SEO, copywriting...
You need to INVEST in yourself

==> 65 Ways to Dominate the 2nd Half of 2018 <==
I need to write Chapter 26 of my upcoming book for freelancers…
But I just realized it’s the 2nd half of 2018...
- Do you remember your New Year’s Resolutions?
- Do you remember how this was going to be “your year?”
Do you remember all the things you were supposed to do?
All the money you were supposed to make?
All the places you were supposed to see?
Well...?
Some of you are on track and that’s great.
But some of you aren’t (or worse - you’re falling behind).
