There's a glaring flaw in the Credlin narrative that Abbott won 25 seats and Turnbull lost 14.
Abbott pissed away his election lead with the 2014 budget, shrill flag-infested press conferences and silly knighthoods.
When he was ousted, Abbott had let the Coalition's primary vote drop from 45.6% to 39%, and Labor's primary to increase from 33.4% to 39%
At the 2016 federal election, Turnbull had reversed Abbott's drop, taking the Libs to 42% primary vote, while Labor got 34.7%
