i'm not sure America is ready for the next four weeks. Trump knows what a Democratic House will mean for him.

he's like cornered animal. there's nothing he won't do between now and Nov.

Just 31% want Kavanaugh confirmed, but America is “deeply divided.” I guess if they repeat it enough times folks will believe it? newsrooms seem weirdly desperate to pretend half of America supports Kavanaugh—it’s not even close

Susan Collins is facing an extraordinary legacy: voting for a chronic liar and accused sexual assaulter nominated to SCOTUS by president whole lost the popular vote, all in order to take way legal choice for women. btw, she thinks the FBI sham investigation was "thorough." so.....

here’s what’s blindingly obvious—if Kavanaugh was interviewed by FBI and told the truth, he wouldn’t become Supreme Court Justice. if he lied, he’d open himself up to legal jeopardy. so WH made sure FBI didn’t interview Kavanaugh it’s astonishing, but GOP is trying to confirm to Supreme Court somebody **they don’t trust to talk to FBI**

WH couldn't risk Kavanaugh lying to FBI agents, so seems pretty clear the strategy was he could not be questioned. ever. under any circumstances; washingtonpost.com/world/national… so instead, FBI cooperated with a charade.

great job Christopher Wray!

in a weird way, this is the part of the Kavanaugh testimony i keep thinking abt.

Sen. Whitehouse asked abt "FFFF" on his calander. Kavanaugh described how is pal stuttered when he said the f-word; how it was inside joke.

watch as he imitates his friend. to me it was the rare window into 1980's Kavanugh, the way he raised his fist and wound up the f-word like his friend did--reenacting how he and his buddies talked and socialized back in HS

reminder: Kavanaugh for three years was PAID to destroy Bill Clinton's reputation.

and Brett did it w/ glee keep those phony tears Brett

oh look, NYT runs deep dive hit piece on Dem running for Senate in AZ, suggesting she’s a phony who’s lied abt her past—she’s not and she didn’t article reads like something straight out of The Weekly Standard. RNC is thrilled, I’m sure

worst. interview. ever he’s just a very unimpressive person-and that comes across every time

when being thin-skinned is part of the job description but this is the model @deanbaquet specifically wants and why he fired public editor—when newsroom controversies arise, NYT editors simply announce they are 100% in the right, and answer to nobody

btw, today’s NYT runs the Rosenstein piece huge on page one (much to WH’s delight), while NYT carries zero stories abt insane, failed GOP plot to suggest Kavanaugh attack was mistaken indenture—NYT doesn’t see that as news *identity

this makes NYT look completely ridiculous; nbcnews.com/politics/polit… and adds to the narrative that NYT did WH’s bidding today
Sep 21, 2018 4 tweets 1 min read
interesting that NYT did not have this information, which WaPo included: <another person at the meeting, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations, **insisted the recording comment was said in a moment of sarcasm**,> the NYT version is much more pleasing to the WH

between this and Garland, GOP will have destroyed the reputation of US Supreme Court. period . ponder what the long-term implication are for American democracies are, and how all authoritarians have two main goals—destroy faith in free press and to corrupt the courts

one of the main themes of my writing during the Obama years was the colossal failure of the DC media to acknowledge how utterly radical and corrupt GOP had become—weeks like this confirm my warnings watching people now suddenly marvel at how utterly radical and corrupt GOP is basically proves my pt—people were fed a completely fake bs line that GOP was merely center-right party under Obama. no way. no how

this hits on pt i was making last night.

Trump's not mentally stable. he can't grasp reality.

But press dances around it. and instead we get lots of stories about how his non-stop lying is really part of a larger, complicated "strategy" to appeal to his base etc why don't press report on him denying PR death toll today as example of his dementia...or whatever they want to call it?

why won't press just deal w/ the reality of today's WH?

btw, Republicans in Congress are rarely treated like this by press—open assumption that they’re really only acting on behalf of presidential political ambitions it’s also an attempt by NYT to #BothSides the hearings; to suggest GOP and Dems are just using this week for politics

Trump has a 3% approval rating among black voters.

#carryon of course the poll’s margin of error is 3 pts, so it’s possible it’s 0% approval among black voters

We are 3 yrs into this Trump fiasco since he came down Trump Tower escalator. the number of DC journos *still* professing to be stunned by his behavior says more abt them than it does him for 1000+ days Trump has aggressively advertised who he is—a pathological liar etc. do journos think it’s all an act and deep down he’s a decent guy??
