1. The New York Times investigation into Donald Trump's finances wasn't just a skillful demolition of Trump's origin story. It was an explicit rebuke to generations of journalists who bolstered Trump’s tale. mediamatters.org/blog/2018/10/0…2. "Essential to that mythmaking has been keeping the truth of his money... hideden or obscured. Across the decades, aided and abetted by less-than-aggressive journalism, Mr. Trump has made sure his financial history would be sensationalized far more than seen.”

The Daily Caller has published an article theorizing that the Anonymous op-ed in the NYT is "a hoax, concocted within" the paper.
Author is a "forensic psychologist." The evidence is a set of bullet points detailing "the Left’s constant hoaxes, lies and fake news."

The president of the United States watches cable news for hours each day and is privately advised by Fox News hosts. Here's what they're telling him to do: mediamatters.org/blog/2018/09/1…1) Lou Dobbs and Sean Hannity spent a lot of time last week calling on Trump to release DOJ docs that supposedly prove the Mueller probe is a witch hunt.
He's reportedly taking this advice as soon as this week.

1. An interesting but perhaps not unexpected pattern emerges in Bob Woodward's new book: The president keeps watching cable news and freaking out at his staff about what he sees. It happens at least half a dozen times by my count. mediamatters.org/blog/2018/09/0…2. He is unnerved by Fox B-roll of a days-old North Korean missile launch, loses it when a CNN contributor mentions impeachment, explodes over coverage of his Charlottesville speech. He picks fights with senior staff and almost pulls a cabinet nominee.

There are many interesting questions raised by the Anonymous op-ed. But the fact that literally everyone in Washington - including Trump’s aides and GOP congressional leadership - knows that the president is unfit for office seems like a good thing to focus on.
I’d like to know who wrote it and why, and there’s an interesting philosophical debate about whether the author’s response is appropriate. But also, the president is unstable, everyone knows it, it’s been clear since the campaign, and he has nukes.

"The one thing that’s clear is that the new political journalism has to be built for a moment of crisis, not stability, something that citizens of less happy democracies are more accustomed to." buzzfeednews.com/article/bensmi…
FWIW, I think covering politics as sports was unreasonable then, and -- as Smith alludes -- the sort of thing one could only find acceptable due to a lack of skin in the game.

Okay, I think I figured out what the president was talking about last night when he tweeted that "Lester Holt got caught fudging my tape on Russia."
Here's Rudy Giuliani during a July 25 interview with Sean Hannity. Giuliani says that Trump "he made it clear to Lester Holt he [fired Comey] knowing that the investigation would continue so he couldn't obstruct it."

Good morning. The president was up before dawn this morning watching and tweeting about last night's episode of Fox's Lou Dobbs Tonight.
Left, Dobbs, 7:30 pm

Dobbs' take was that Google is "banning" and "suppressing" conservative news sites from appearing in their results. His source is a piece from PJ Media that sorted results based on "Sharyl Attkisson's media bias chart," which lists the Washington Post & the NY Times as far left.
We won't be using her name on twitter because, no offense, this place can be a hellscape. If you know her name please respect that or I shall become cranky.

Introducing the Sean Hannity Expanded Universe, Fox’s anti-Mueller alternative reality mm4a.org/ZDz
Because you, the people, demanded it, and my editors couldn't say no when I'm about to go on paternity leave.
Anti-Mueller conspiracy theories have permeated nearly every corner of Fox. But a small group at the networks have followed Hannity's lead by making that narrative the center of their commentary.

Here's my review of all 487 Hannity segments about the first year of the Mueller probe mediamatters.org/blog/2018/05/2…2. I'll talk big picture in this thread.

I feel pretty comfortable assuming the worst, dumbest thing will happen. Which is why I'm assuming that Jim Jordan will be the House GOP leader by January.
If he isn't, it'll be because whoever the leader is got onboard with the crazy anti-Mueller conspiracies and pushed through a second special counsel.
