Reminder that Canada's publicly funded religious schools earn us a black eye from the United Nations every time they do a human rights review. That is also connected to the residential schools, a euphemism that perhaps fails to properly capture the incomprehensible cruelty behind these genocidal programs.

I'm extremely cynical about what's really being said in these cheesy "should trans people have rights" polls, and I'll walk you through a local example as to why. Back before it was devoured by The Star, a local paper called Metro News conducted a poll they claim was about Bill C-16, a law that amended federal Canadian rights to include gender identity. I say "they claim" because they failed to interpret a very important gap in their data.

Euro-colonial cissexism was never a system rooted in logic, trying to use it as a tool to make declarations on validity of identities derived from it is a fool's errand. #TransRational Rationalism is important, but as is often the case with people who self-identify as rationalists, it's an important ideology being bastardized by people who wouldn't pass a single fucking philosophy essay.

I felt tempted to try a good faith attempt to engage with this honestly but all that came out was "fuck off, tosser" "Starvation is honourable and dignified" --person who has never eaten peanut butter for a week to make ends meet

Now that I think about it, no right-winger has actually justified to me *why* their policies should be imposed against popular will, other than "we won." Democracy to them isn't a means of achieving consensus, but rather a means of acquiring power to enact their will. They will (and do, and have, repeatedly) cheated in that vein.

I'm really tired of the way most people conduct gender "socialization" discourse so I'm going to hammer this out:

Everybody is socialized into all euro-colonial gender roles. Mistake #1 is conceiving of gendered socialization as something you strictly receive.

False.

Part of this process is teaching you how and when to apply this pressure to others.

Mothers can and sometimes do teach their sons toxic masculinity.

tired: trans women are real women

wired: yoga pants are real pants this tweet brought to you by "the girl guides have been trans inclusive for like 20 years and y'all are just now having a meltdown about it?"

Opinion columnists aren't journalists. People... know that, right?

Like, a journalist, especially a freelancer who has to round out the budget, may write an op-ed from time to time... but that op-ed is still not journalism.

I, too have pre-emptively collected 60 separate character witnesses and have them on standby at any given time. You know, for no particular reason. how could you accuse me of being an arsonist? look at all the homes I haven't burned to the ground *gestures vaguely*

It's like the people who think going to the doctor with a medical complaint is "taking advantage" of socialized medicine.

That's why it's there. Canada's biggest cost-saving strategy in medicine is publicly subsidized general practitioners. The idea is, if you have more people going in for complaints, then you're more likely to catch severe illnesses early, which usually make them easier and cheaper to treat.

Now would be a great time to examine the pipeline between Fox News and Rebel Media as Ontario Conservatives breathlessly puppet Republican propaganda points like "activist judges." That Conservatives don't seem to grasp what winning an election means should be the wake-up call a party like the NDP needs to realize the Conservatives aren't speaking the same language or playing the same game as everyone else, and act accordingly.

In plain English: Doug Ford is initiating a constitutional crisis based on nothing more than desire to "trigger the libs" This is why we stop treating modern Conservatism like an alternative opinion with a serious argument.

It's not. It's a five year-old boy going "I'm not touching you" distilled into policy.

Transphobes love academic freedom, until that academic freedom is used by trans people to peer review your shite science--then it's "censorship" and "suppression"! I came into the historical revisionism (and I don't use that term mildly) regarding the Zucker clinic after the fact. That I am watching this happen in real time with a hoax diagnosis is really something else freethoughtblogs.com/atg/2017/02/16…

Speaking of white supremacists in Edmonton, who wants to meet more #yeg Soldiers of Odin?

Meet Todd Chatters. Todd Chatters claims on his Facebook profile to be a labourer at O'Hanlon Paving. At @/trash_fabulous on Twitter he pinned a tweet of a rather nasty injury on his cheek he says came from a 5-inch grinder.

Again, the only group more active in my mentions than 4chan since taking point on tagging and dragging Edmonton white supremacist groups, is TERFs I don't even know Natacha Kennedy. And I didn't until a TERF tried to start a dogpile. But if the crime punishable by witch burning (an irony the TERFs will never admit) is simply pointing out that Kathleen Stock is ideologically laundering sex essentialism, she seems fine.

Crossing a picket line serves to protect capital in the exact same way that policing does. Both ought to be understood accordingly when it comes to describing their material relations to the worker. The employer class derives its wealth by stealing the value of the worker's labour. The premise of the strike is to withhold that labour to force concessions from employers, usually to steal less, or in particularly ambitious cases, to stop stealing at all.

A lot of you are following me from my Who's the Nazi efforts so I'll get a few things out of the way:

* It'll take a while to go through everything, plus I'm keeping busy outside of that project, so WtN updates will be irregularly coming for a while. * I'm going slow not only because there's a lot to sift through, but because I'm trying to attribute judiciously. I got some early traction because of sloppy opsec, but even a little effort slows me down.

DMs are full of either groyper nazis or TERFs. 🤔 Anyway round two of Who's the Nazi will begin soon.
