THREAD: Trump is an easy villain to focus on, but I strongly believe that the system which put him in power is a bigger problem. When he says it's rigged, he means for ppl like him. Let's have a look at how much rigging has been going on since Republicans took the House in 2011. If the thought of Russia interfering in your elections angers you, then you should keep that same energy for voter suppression and gerrymandering. Republicans are well-aware that the fewer people vote, the better chance they have of winning. They acted accordingly, so should you.

ICYMI: Watch a lady with 12 private jets and 10 yachts explain to congress why public education gets way too much money. "Hello 911? Part of my inheritance money is being used to buy school books for poor people. Yes, I'll hold"

I'm exhausted. It's not just the constant dehumanization, it's also that the majority of white people agree enough to vote for people who do it. Seeing people like Matt Bevin and Steve King openly say racist things while holding office in 2018 is discouraging as fuck.

THREAD: Most misconceptions held by the Right end up cemented when they're repeated ad nauseam by either Fox News or the WH. So, I thought I'd put together some facts that I feel don't get repeated enough to help cut through the noise, and counter the disinformation. "Why don't these refugees seeking asylum just come legally?" is a question often heard from conservatives. First of all, asylum has always been legal and capped. Second of all, the pathways to legal immigration are much more complicated than ppl think (as seen in the 1st graph).

*Latina in the Bronx who sees healthcare as a right wins Dem primary*

Media: "ARE DEMS GOING TOO FAR LEFT?!?"

*Record number of Nazis openly claiming to be inspired by Trump run for office as Republicans*

Media: "Hmm...that's odd" Today's the anniversary of the civil rights act so here's a list of white supremacists running for office that need to be stopped.

The thread also includes info on rising far right violence that's yet to properly be addressed by Republicans or the media.

THREAD: Out of all of Trump's cabinet, Secretary of Education Betsy Devos is viewed most unfavorably. It's quite the feat, but is it deserved? It just might be, and I'm going to give you a few (among many) reasons why. The Devos family owns a fleet of 12 private jets, so it's no wonder she's the first Sec of Ed to refer to public schools as a "dead end." Trump calls them a "monopoly." They're both billionaires who see public education as a business opportunity. Hence, wanting to privatize it.

THREAD: The private prison industry's ability to remain under the radar (despite its growing political influence) is disconcerting. So I think it's finally time we talk about it a little more. - The 2 big players in the 5 BILLION dollar industry are CoreCivic and the GEO Group
- Private prisons span 33 states including liberal states such as NY and Mass.
- Companies that use their prisoner labor include Boeing, Starbucks, Victoria’s Secret, McDonalds, BP, Verizon+more

It's wild that the Parkland shooter had a swastika carved into his gun, wore a MAGA hat, and explicitly expressed his hatred for Jews and black people but all these things were excluded from the subsequent conversation. Since the Parkland shooting, we've talked about guns, we've talked about mental health, but the shooter's outspoken white supremacist values and where they came from are seen as non factors. Why?

Some people are seeing the rise in hate crimes and scratching their heads as if this wasn't explicitly stated the day of the Charlottesville terrorist attack: We're making the mistake of treating Charlottesville like an anomaly. And while we're avoiding the much needed national conversation about the resurgence of White Supremacy groups, their recruitment efforts on campuses have increased by over 200(!!!)%

THREAD OF OBAMA SCANDALS:

1. Think Trump referring to Africa and Haiti as "shitholes" is bad? What about when Obama asked someone to pass the Poupon??? 2. So what if hate crimes went up 20% in major US cities under Trump so far? Obama used to chew gum!!!
