*unless in a wheelchair, then their superpower is THEIR BRAIN I’m not saying disability should be the story, because struggle porn is a drag, too, but just... show disabled people being people, and living with their disability, don’t give them a superpower that obliviates that part of their character

because half of them blow up before that two years is out You can pitch them, you can chat to them, but wait until they have a track record of paying their bills and issuing contracts before running in there

For pitching monthly comics publishers, you do not need an agent. However, for bookstore / trade publishers, as in prose fiction, you definitely get further with an agent. So it depends on what your goal is.

My literary agent is worth their entire % and more. As well as pitching work, they take care of legal, foreign rights, and a lot of tax stuff, and they co-ordinate with my book to film agent. I have landed two book deals and a few other things I would not have gotten without them

I have a few things to say about Image Expo, having been featured in it before, and also having published at Image fairly regularly since. Strap in. Obviously: Image is my home-base publisher in the monthlies, so yes, I’m biased. But also I’m happy to admit I don’t like / agree with every book they publish. (See: H. Chaykin vs the United States of Good Taste, 2017)
