Donald Trump is America's Racist-in-Chief. He is literally fulfilling a white supremacist wish list. Trump's most recent gift? Tweeting about "white genocide" in South Africa. My new .@salon

Trump's White House is a den and cabal of white racism with white supremacist and "white nationalist" believers and sympathizers such as Stephen Miller, Michael Anton and Steve Bannon and others writing the speeches and making racist policy.

Donald Trump's White House is a den and hive of racists and others who are aligned with or sympathetic to so-called "white nationalists". Speech writer Darren Beattie is but one such example. My new .@salon
salon.com/2018/08/22/don…
Stephen Miller, Michael Anton, Steve Bannon, Jeff Session, and yes the king of the cabal, Donald Trump have shown through their actions, words, and policies that they are racists in league with and doing the work of a much larger white supremacist ideology and movement.

Will there be violence between Republicans and Democrats in Trump's broken America? Political parties are increasingly like sports teams. The Trumpists and other Republicans are soccer hooligans. My new .@salon
salon.com/2018/08/20/sch…
Political scientist Liliana Mason's research suggests this is a distinct possibility. Her work also shows that yes there is hyper polarization but Republicans are much more hostile to the groups that comprise the Democratic Party than the other way around.

.@DouthatNYT wants to imagine a post Donald Trump "white strategy" Republican Party. Not possible. The Republican Party is the country's largest white identity organization. Conservatism and racism are now fully one and the same thing. My .@salon
salon.com/2018/08/15/rep…
And while superficially challenging a "white strategy" whose roots are in overt open white supremacy. .@DouthatNYT recycles much of the same white racist logic with his caricatures of "anti-whiteness". He might have just said "anti racism is anti white" instead.

James Baldwin can teach us a great deal about Donald Trump's racism towards .@KingJames .@teamlebron and .@donlemon and other black Americans. My new essay .@salon
salon.com/2018/08/10/bey…
For example, jealousy and envy of black Americans is at the heart of white racism and white supremacy. This is one of the ways that the emptiness at the heart of Whiteness is filled. .@KingJames and .@donlemon and .@barackobama are better people than Donald Trump could ever be.

Historian Richard Frankel is the guest on this week's episode of The Chauncey DeVega Show. He and I discuss why we must look evil in its eyes and compare the rise of Hitler to what Donald Trump is doing to America and the world.

As professor Frankel warns, if we keep debating if Trump is a fascist and how he may or may not be like Hitler and other authoritarian evildoers it will be too late to do anything to stop him.

The plan is obvious. Donald Trump will admit working with the Russians and Vladimir Putin to steal the election from Hillary Clinton and the American people. His excuse? He was trying to save America from Hillary and the Democrats. My new .@salon
salon.com/2018/08/07/don…
This narrative has been developing. Now Trump and his defenders start out by saying there was no collusion and no meeting with Russians at Trump Tower. Now the right-wing propaganda and messaging is "Collusion is Not a Crime!"

The victims of Trump and his supporters' violence have names. They are not just statistics. We and they must resist. Trump's victims will not be silent or passive. My new .@salon with .@arjunsethi81 author of American Hate: Survivors Speak Out.
Arjun's truth-telling: "We need to root out white supremacy just like the cancer it is AND support survivors across the country who experience cruelty & violence."

Racism is a dagger at the heart of American democracy. Many white Americans are authoritarian, in favor of military rule and willing to disregard democratic norms because of a fear of loss of status relative to non-whites. My new .@salon
salon.com/2018/08/02/are…
This new research from Steven Miller and Nicholas Davis also shows again that it was not so-called "economic anxiety" that motivated Trump's voters but rather racial authoritarianism.

White Americans love welfare for themselves. White Americans--especially white racist conservatives, Trumpists, and other racially resentful types--hate welfare for nonwhites. This hostility is especially profound towards black Americans. My new .@salon
salon.com/2018/08/01/whi…
This new research from Robb Willer and Rachel Wetts also shows how many white Americans are so drunk on anti-black and brown animus that they will oppose welfare and other assistance programs even if white folks--the group that benefits the most--will be hurt.

It is good that there are Republicans and others in the small coalition of #NeverTrump conservatives. But criticizing Trump and/or leaving the Republican Party is insufficient. Never Trumpers and others must do much more to repent. My new .@salon
salon.com/2018/07/30/rep…
Many anti-Trump Republicans are concerned about Trump's fascism and other rule breaking. But they are also worried about how history will remember them now. All Republicans and conservatives must be held accountable for how they helped to birth Trumpism's evil. This took decades.

Donald Trump is a threat to democracy. He is criminalizing dissent and has no respect for the rule or spirit of the law. My new .@salon
salon.com/2018/07/13/don…
So many overly optimistic and naive liberals and progressives and centrist Democrats still believe that the "rule of law" and the "guardrails of democracy" are holding. They have been broken.

Donald Trump and the Republican Party are engaged in a coordinated campaign to make America less respected and weaker around the world. Their effort to undermine human rights both at home and abroad is a key part of this strategy. My new .@salon
salon.com/2018/07/11/don…
Donald Trump is a racist. He is not content to wield that power against black and brown people in the U.S.. He is actually exporting such values abroad. To that end, Trump's administration wants to remove any language from the United Nations condemning racism and intolerance.

What are Donald Trump's supporters teaching their children? If last week's rally in Montana is any indication racism, nativism, bigotry, sexism, violence, ignorance, and authoritarianism. My new .@salon
salon.com/2018/07/10/don…
At last week's Trump hatefest in Montana two white children were asked by what they like the most about Donald Trump. Their answers were more "polite" versions of white supremacist talking points about "white genocide" and white people being "outbred" by nonwhites.

Did the Trump administration signal (again) their approval of neo-Nazis and other white supremacists? The "14 words" and the number "88" in a recent DHS press release. My new .@salon
salon.com/2018/07/06/did…
The Trump administration has (or had) neo-Nazis and white supremacist sympathizers and overt allies in the White House. Stephen Miller, Michael Anton, Stephen Bannon, and Sebastian Gorka are just a few examples.

Civility and politeness in the face of Trump and his allies' cruelty, violence, and attack on democracy is dangerous, foolish, and will end in defeat for all true patriots who want to save the United States. My new .@salon

"When they go low we go high" is a nice feel good slogan that won't defeat Trumpism. It didn't win the 2016 presidential election either. Trump and his minions are borrowing from an old playbook. They are violent and accuse those who resist them of actually committing the crime.

People of conscience must act in this dark time. U.S. Senate candidate .@RingelsteinME went to one of Trump's concentration camps in Texas to fight for the human rights of all people. He was arrested for doing so. My conversation with him .@salon

Donald Trump and his storm troopers are stealing brown and black children from their families at the U.S.-Mexico border. Now imprisoning whole families of migrants and refugees. If you allow this evil and do nothing you are complicit.

Trump's ascendance, stealing babies at the border, the Muslim ban are all a reflection of fear about America's changing racial demographics. But it is much more. It is white fear that black and brown folks will take revenge. My new .@salon
salon.com/2018/06/26/wha…
In his great column yesterday .@charlesblow hinted at this with "white extinction anxiety". But the existential dread at the heart of whiteness is much deeper. It is a fear that black and brown folks will "get even" and "take revenge" when they are the numerical majority.

False equivalency is moral cowardice. The New York Times needs to remember this rule as it suggests that those who resist Donald Trump's evil are somehow as guilty as he is for being "rude" and "uncivil". My new .@salon
salon.com/2018/06/22/mai…
The New York Times even went so far as to feature a headline which read "In Era of Trump, Incivility Spreads in a Divided Nation." After a public outcry they changed it but the content of the piece stayed largely if not all the same. Again those who resist Trump should be "nice".

The architect of Trump's evil policy of breaking up the families of brown people at the U.S.-Mexico border is Stephen Miller. He is a white supremacist. Yet, the New York Times refused to provide that context in its expose on the policy. My new .@salon
salon.com/2018/06/20/why…
When so-called "journals of record" and others do not provide context they are doing the public a disservice. The fact that Stephen Miller is a white supremacist mentored by and friends with Richard Spencer is a crucial fact. Miller and Trump are racial sadists.
