I am not sure if this is aging or lack of general and consistent exercising, my left knee just gave in this morning while returning from breakfast. The stares were out of this world. And it hurts. Thanks to the bellhop that came to my aid. I am not sure if this is a thing, but I think hotels should have onsite physicians for these like this. Yes, no one goes to a hotel to fall sick or something, but you never can tell.

Businesses must understand UX if they must stay competitive in today's world. Time is the greatest commodity today. Unlike any other thing, it has a fixed supply daily - 24hrs.

Last night I tried *329# for the first time. I've always been a *737# guy. I like the near frictionless nature of 737, the former, not so great. While trying to use 329, it asked me for a few details; first name, last name, date of birth. By the time I got to the DOB part, I became frustrated and abandoned the transaction.

Yesterday's Concatenate conference showed what's possible when we give young people an opportunity to flourish and express themselves. I am so glad @codebeast @unicodeveloper and other conceived and executed this. Well done, ladies and gentlemen. Well done. A group of Nigerian young men and women with so much help, gathered some of the finest engineers all around the world to speak in a Nigerian technology conference. This is AMAZING!!!! Like AMAZING!!!

Christian, God bless you and everyone involved in this. Thank you for doing this. Thank you. This is how we will change the narrative and write our own story. These things happen because selfless people put themselves out there, do the hard work and this hard work will definitely blossom. I am really excited when I see these things.

The INEC website does not have https enabled. All the asset load from the same origin - no CDN. Entire home page will set you back by at least 20MB. 108 network request to render the home page. No one thought it wise to put JS together and minify it. Same thing with CSS. How can you, in 2018 and in good faith, serve a 5MB image. How? Isn't this wickedness? For a country where data is still not cheap. If you had paid N1,000 approximately $3 for a 1GB data, you would have spent about 2% of it just to access the home page of INEC.

So after my last blog post - "No, you don't need ML/AI. You need SQL" - so many persons reached out with questions and I figured I'd hold a round table session for just 5 persons. It will be a combination of lessons and AMA. 4 hours of serious content. Class size of 5. We will talk about everything - 1. Understanding e-commerce financial modelling
2. Customer acquisition and retention strategy.
3. Effective marketing newsletter and retargetting.
4. Making sense of data
5. Analytics
6. Social media for e-commerce

I'm not a designer. I can't even draw a straight line to save my own life, but @figmadesign changed the game and lower the barrier to entry for product designer. @figmadesign My younger brother, with no prior design experience, after 4 months of sitting under the tutelage of @namnsoukpanah is now churning out some really cool stuff. 4 months ago he was blank, today he is talking design systems and all.

We use Restify for almost all our APIs, so I rolled up a tiny bootstrapping tool that can spin up endpoints quickly with complete routes, controllers, models(Bookshelfjs), migrations(Knex), test(JEST) and services. Pretty pleased with the outcome. 3 - 4 hours task became 2 min. What this means is that for a new project, we can spin up an entire API in about 2 - 3 hours with minimal tweaks as long as we have properly define contracts. This was a task that took north of 1 - 2 weeks depending on complexity.

Instead of saying "I have a 1st class in X, please RT my employer may be on your TL." Why not say "I've experience in customer service. I took a team of 2 agents and grew it to 10 over a period of 12 months and during this time, we reduced complaints by 20%" "We improved our SLA from 24hrs to 2hrs, thereby improving customer satisfaction and this had a net +ve impact on our NPS." "I volunteered as the coordinator for our CDS game day. With a budget of x, we staged the best game day in our service year."

A thread about the struggles of women in technology(the Nigerian edition). Yesterday, I had a conversation with a young lady who is just starting out in tech. Midway into our conversation, she broke down. For the first 2 minutes, I was confused; did I say something wrong? Did I overstep my boundaries?

A strong product manager should be a person with a balanced view of business (requirements) and engineering, else there's bound to be problem and this could lead to disintegration in the team. S(?he) must know how to manage stakeholders expectations in relation to timeline. In the quest to move fast and break things, product managers unconsciously encourage engineering teams to throw caution to the wind and ignore the fundamental tenets of software development. This practice only leads to frustration and unmanageable technical debts.

It's always fun when I speak to founders and potential founders and they are quick to tell me how they want to use AI/ML to improve customer retention and improve LTV. Truth is, they don't even need ML. A properly written SQL is what you need. In a former life, I used to write SQL to extract customer of the week. Basically, select from orders table where basket size is the biggest. We will then email a nice thank you note to this customer and attach a small coupon/voucher....

My yearly ritual - watching "The Men Who Built America." Cornelius Vanderbilt started his rail empire by borrowing $100 to buy a small ferry boat. He quickly earned the reputation of a shrewd business man.
