Some of you say you don’t GAF about white people yet you are constantly bothered by them and it shows in your actions, if not your words. Some of you are truly bothered by white people who go through life, just living their lives, oblivious to their privilege. But you know what?

Ok y’all, another mini rant. Sorry to do it but these tweets hurt my heart yesterday and I really wish more people had a better understanding of homeownership and the way money works. In the end everyone is obviously free to make their own decisions but I want y’all to stop…
…being so uninformed. I want y’all to be able to see beyond a monthly payment. I’m not @/ting the one young man directly because he clearly said he doesn’t wish to discuss his tweet. But again, I want people to have a fuller picture regarding this subject.

The responses to this question and questions like it always saddens me. #1 response is “I don’t want to be responsible for maintenance and upkeep, taxes, insurance, etc.”
Well you’re paying for ALL of that in your rent anyway. At least consider that you keep equity when you own.
You pay rent for 10, 15, 30 years or a lifetime then you have absolutely nothing to show for it. Again, in that rental payment you’re STILL paying for all the things you say you don’t want to pay for. Think about that. True if something breaks, you CAN just call the landlord.

…and engaging in family planning to delay kids until they’re more financially stable. Parents don’t need to force kids out at 18 or 20 and kids need to stop being so eager to jump out there and spend a bunch of money just to be “grown.” If you must, have roommates. Split costs.
People should be aware that loan interest accrues *even* when your payments are being deferred. It’s important to increase your understanding of how loans work if you are going to use them.
