This is the hacking equipment setup in the boot of a car in The Hague by alleged GRU operatives seeking to hack into the OPCW. Lol.

A brief thread on a new feature we've rolled out at @vizlegal that we're particularly proud of! Apologies to any non legal types (but techies might like it too!). One complaint we've heard over and over again from Irish legal practitioners is trouble with court rules. "Messy", "difficult", "might be out of date" and some more choice words have been used to describe them..

Just thinking about the Facebook hack again. Short thread I promise. This is speculation and scenario speculation. But imagine for a moment it's a sophisticated attacker (which it might well be), and they have a purpose in mind.

So the silence from @facebook over the weekend is.. deafening. It's the biggest hack of Facebook ever. And is up there with the biggest (if not *the* biggest) hacks of all time.

No @DavidDavisMP, you can't "buy your drinks in Dublin with pounds". he says he's "very familiar with the Irish border", and then confuses the customs union with customs and excise enforcement.

Thus far pretty unhappy with @HuaweiMobileUK p20 pro. Fingerprint sensor failed randomly. Then face recognition. Sent for repair, screen replaced. Now NFC failing. Back for repair. 3 month old phone. After my iPhone 5 debacle I'm not going back to iPhone (woeful build quality). I'd like close to stock Android, but Pixel is overpriced and under specced. Samsung = never. So Huawei or Xiaomi (Mi 8?).

I bet many, many businesses in Dublin are likewise frustrated with how ridiculous the housing situation is. A growing city needs housing, and an oversupply of it if anything. But there's the "free market" ideology of FG + too many people benefitting from soaring rents. The city suffers as a result - on the spectrum of outright homelessness -> to say, young people starting in a job who hand over half their net salary in rent. The city is broken.

I wrote a piece for @legalitinsider about access to justice and some of the problems we're trying to address with @vizlegal legaltechnology.com/latest-news/ac… one of the biggest problems we've seen in England & Wales is public access to court judgments. It sounds obvious, but the public should be able to access the judgments of courts..

Increasingly it feels like the entire country needs to go on strike until the State/Gov take housing seriously. The irony of saying that after the 2000-2006 debacle. #strike4housing ? It's puzzling to me even if you look at it purely from economic growth perspective. Or demographic / family formation. The population is growing.

Don't agree with @ciarakellydoc on this. Ciara assumes fascists have 1) honest/good intentions 2) respect debate 3) believe in free speech.

In power, fascists would shut down *all free speech*, at the first opportunity. Simple rule of thumb: don't give platforms to fascists. Good thread here too

This 30 min doc from 1964 is worth your time. It explains in a quite even handed way the history of Derry, and its Catholic/Protestant populations. It predates the start of the troubles. and was not broadcast for another 25 years. (via @Mark_Coughlan) rte.ie/archives/exhib… it also features playwright Brian Friel's father, Paddy Friel, and explores the types of discrimination against Catholics at the time (company directors receiving extra votes being one example given)
